Synopsis

One by one, a flock of small birds perches on a telephone wire. Sitting close together has problems enough, and then comes along a large dopey bird that tries to join them. The birds of a feather can't help but make fun of him - and their clique mentality proves embarrassing in the end.

Reviews

Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
ChicRawIdol A brilliant film that helped define a genre
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
ofpsmith For The Birds is a story about acceptance. The story is as follows. A group of very snobby high class birds are siting on a power line yipping at each other, when a huge goofy bird settles in on the line. Very disturbed by the presence of this large oaf the snobs try to push him off of the power line. You could even think of it like Caddyshack. The snobby birds are Ted Knight, and the big goofy bird is Rodney Dangerfield. It's a very funny little short film that does a good job in showing us all the true meaning of tolerance. If you over think it of course. If you don't over think it it's just a funny little short. It's good either way.
sashank_kini-1 Maverick Pixar can do so many things in three minutes. It can present a contemporary view of the society- teeming with snobbish, truculent, neurotic, vindictive people or in this case birds who show no mercy to outcasts and unite to bring them down the wire the moment the outcast wants to be included in the society. Big birdie over here looks stupid and dim-witted to the bickering birds who are appalled at the sight of their new companion. However, it is big birdie who gets the last laugh. The wonderful thing about Pixar is that its films are dear to it. Therefore, FTB is referred to not only in Finding Nemo but also in Cars. And it's very well made short indeed. 8 out of 10.
olyfreak-1 I saw For the Birds when I first saw Monsters, Inc. in the theater. It was alright, but I don't think that the humor was the best part of it. For me, the complexity of the animation was what I enjoyed the most. The incredible detail of each individual feather had to (and did) take years to perfect. If you can look past the attempts to be funny, For the Birds was an excellent example of computer animation, and it deserved to win an Oscar for Best Short Animated Film.
reallyshippy Possibly one of the funniest films I've ever seen, even if it is 'only' a short. I saw it before Monsters Inc. in the cinema, and I'd have to say I laughed more at 'For the Birds' than the entirety of Monsters Inc. Great stuff.
