Pacionsbo Absolutely Fantastic
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
yoshi_s_story In this fictional semi-parodic comedy intended for the youth, we follow the life of United States President's daughter, who is having hard time trying to lead the life of a normal girl of her age, while dealing with paparazzi, security surveillance, and electoral needs of her dad. This does not deliver a reflection on the antinomic nexus between private freedom and public popularity, since «Una teenager alla Casa Bianca» is in fact a long instalment of a TV series such as Dawson's Creek stretched into the film format. Katie Holmes is a stunning beauty, who gained popularity through Dawson's Creek (and, at later time, marriage with Tom Cruise), but this is quite separate a matter with being able to perform in real films, which is not the case for her nor for the couple of TV-series kind of performers she's been paired with this time — her foreseeably beautiful college friend (Ameriie) and predictably handsome wanna-be boyfriend (Marc Blucas), who'd instantly appear ludicrous if weighed as actual film actors.Aside from the absolute inability to express whatever emotion of the entire cast (except for a wasted Keaton, however made impotent by non-existent screenplay), there is nothing specially despicable if taken for what it is and not for a film, and I advise Dawson's Creek or generic teenage TV series fans to watch this one: it's a long, entertaining episode.
Gordon-11 This film is about the president's daughter going into college. Hilarity ensues as she tries to fit normalcy in her life with a special status."First Daughter" is predictable, but it is enjoyable. Katie Holmes is convincing enough as the president's daughter. The twist about James being someone other than a student comes as a surprise, it is delivered in an effective way. I actually feel Samantha's pain and disappointment after the revelation! The jokes mainly come from her special status, such as the secret agents intervening the first party. Though they are predictable and silly, but the jokes work. It is light hearted and cheerful, though not as memorable as "Legally Blonde" which is rather similar. I think it makes a good choice for some brain off entertainment.
jendoyle-2 ...but I *love* this movie. It makes me happy. So maybe it's a little too saccharine-y, but with all the craziness/sadness/horrible-ness in the world today, I'll take all the sugar (substitutes) I can get. I can even get past the 'What the...?' scene in the boat because I liked the movie so much.I see it as a fairy tale. Cinderella, but with a twist. SPOILER ALERTI even like the way it ended -- despite my being a happily-into-the-sunset kind of person. In fact, I like that it wasn't quite so pat, but instead gave the girl the cake AND the chance to eat it too. On her terms. And the dance at the end makes me swoon.
Claudio Carvalho Samantha Mackenzie (Katie Holmes), the daughter of President Mackenzie (Michael Keaton) and his wife Melanie (Margaret Collin), decides to go to college in California during his tough campaign for reelection. She requests a reduced secret service protection trying to act normal with her new mates, including her roommate Mia Thompson (Amerie), and she falls in love for James Lansome (Marc Blucas). When her security is threatened, she discloses the real identity of James and decides to return home to support her family in the election process. In spite of having a good cast with great performances, "First Daughter" has a very silly and shallow screenplay that does not help the actors and the actresses. The story aims to expose the "tough life" of a young woman because she is the daughter of the president of the USA, but actually shows a futile, spoiled and overprotected teenager with a weak personality having a luxurious and banal lifestyle. My vote is six.Title (Brazil): "A Filha do Presidente" ("The Daughter of the President")
