UnowPriceless hyped garbage
GazerRise Fantastic!
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Fatma Suarez The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
jmwbate A very controversial exploitation film, often regarded as racist. Fight for your Life is about a group of escaped convicts who take a wealthy family of colour hostage in their home and torment them for pleasure. As far as this film being 'racist' is concerned, I didn't think it was all out racist. The film clearly wants you to despise the acts of the gang leader and everything he says. The film also outwardly encourages the audience to side with the black family, regardless of what happens. What the film is though, is exploitative of a touchy subject without having anything of interest to say about it. Lazy would be a better term than racist in my opinion. My main gripe (along with it being poorly made) has nothing to do with being offended, more to do with it taking an idea that might have something interesting to say but instead choosing to go down a numb and uninteresting route.I can't even really recommend it for the shock factor, as it wasn't particularly shocking. My advice, watch House on the Edge of the Park instead. Shocking yet interesting.
hellholehorror This could be taken so offensively. It is a really trashy racist film. There is a revenge theme but it is not satisfying. They really don't make enough of the revenge. You want the revenge to be more savage than the previous torture. This is never realised and it just babbles along shouting racial slurs. It is intensely offensive but ultimately unsatisfying in the revenge/justice department.
ametaphysicalshark Well, I've now seen two of the video nasties. While I'm sure I will encounter worse films, I'm sure few will be as damn uninteresting and boring as this. A standard house invasion/hostage movie with blaxploitaion/race wars crap thrown in, awful use of music, and a thriller script so standard that the only fun I had while watching this was giggling at the worst part and eating a Quality Street chocolate every time I guessed something right (drinking would have made the movie more enjoyable, and I'm attempting to sit through all these fully sober). That doesn't sound like much fun, does it? The movie's really no fun either. As for why it was classified as a video nasty, I have no idea, and I'm expecting to have a similar reaction to a bunch of other stuff.
ElijahCSkuggs Don't get that twisted, I liked this flick. That was just one of the many offensive lines our lead villain had. And he had a couple doozies. I really enjoyed the time he told his Asian side-kick to get a move on by saying, "Chop-chop!" What made it funny was that he laughed at his own creativity. We all know creativity makes racism funny so take it easy.Anywho, what we got here is a story about a trio of villains who are out on the lamb and trying to escape the coppers. They take shelter at a black family's house and let's just say they aren't the most polite guests the Turner family have entertained. So now the Turner family have three murderous convicts in the house and they're making themselves comfy by drinking loads of booze, humiliating the head of the house, threatening the grandma and a whole bunch of other awful things. Do the Turner's make it to see another day? Find out in Fight For Your Life.Overall, FFYLife was a pretty entertaining ride. From the over-the-top acting and writing the villains had, to the look at how the family is reacting to their abuse. The picture managed to keep the viewer (me) interested in what will go down next and how the picture will finally end. And by the end, I was completely satisfied. Alright! Definitely give this flick a looksee if you're into some old-school exploitation. It's a serious drama at heart, but it has that hardcore racism and violent themes to throw it over into exploit territory. Really good film here, y'all! Just ask Turd.
