Synopsis

The events of Battle of Gods take place some years after the battle with Majin Buu, which determined the fate of the entire universe. After awakening from a long slumber, Beerus, the God of Destruction is visited by Whis, his attendant and learns that the galactic overlord Frieza has been defeated by a Super Saiyan from the North Quadrant of the universe named Goku, who is also a former student of the North Kai. Ecstatic over the new challenge, Goku ignores King Kai's advice and battles Beerus, but he is easily overwhelmed and defeated. Beerus leaves, but his eerie remark of "Is there nobody on Earth more worthy to destroy?" lingers on. Now it is up to the heroes to stop the God of Destruction before all is lost.

Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
educallejero This was trash. I don't get why some hardcore fans would accept this as good.I rather watch the Dragons saga from DBGT.The comedic fact that if hes given good food, the God won't kill you is PERFECT AND SMART.HOW CAN DESTROY THE EASIEST PART LIKE OUR HEROES CHARACTERIZATIONS!?!?!?!?Instead of creating a couple of new characters, they keep making the same mistakes: Vegeta is not even close to what make her great.Gohan is not a Saiyan anymore.Trunks and Goten were cool and had potential in the Buu Saga, and now are dumb comedic relief (which they were too, with the potential for more then)Etc...This is awful and fans should be ashame of talking like this has the same level than DBZ
maxmages After the 13 films of "Dragon Ball" which were basically nothing but overlong episodes and second-rate TV specials, we finally get something that actually deserves the declaration as a movie.I do not know what the creative process was and I do not know what was going on differently this time, but in any case it went really well because we do not just have a comprehensible intro we have character development besides stories all people come here, and are presented so that the "Dragon Ball fans" have this moment where they can be happy that their favorite characters are displayed correctly or that the people who have no idea about "Dragon Ball" are introduced briefly about who these characters are and where they come from come. We actually have real humor again, though not as dirty as it used to be from Dragonball but still funny and quite fun. The new concept is awesome, Lord Beerus is one of the awesome and best designs I've seen in a long time and the concept of him being a cat, no, because he's a cat, is so brilliant that you could write a book about it , This movie is clearly made for the fans or for people who are knowledgeable because although there are a few moments in it to help people who are not up to date never heard of the word "Dragon Ball" in their lives should not Start "Battle of Gods" because otherwise he is completely lost. The only thing I like not so much is that the pacing in the third act is a bit too fast, I would have extended a few moments a little more z.b. but the transformation is such a small thing that is hardly noticeable on the whole. What can I say in addition to bravo finally finally a perfectly legitimate linear story that is not too complicated, and not too stupid, instead of another faceless upper Fiesling a villain with rough edges and a real personality, again right humor unfortunately In "Dragonball Z" has come too short comma in addition to stories and character development which has actually influence on further history and even fierce continuity.PS: It is unbelievable what the entertainers have done here, of course it is nice to see two-dimensional animation again but this is even better than what I expected the fights are so fluid we even have a little bit of computer animation and everything here and there so seamless about the animations are just for kisses and the fighting is to kneel down.
dinodanz The movie Battle of Gods may as well have been a reboot since nothing in this movie follows anything in the TV shows moreover it tries to make that crap dragon ball GT canon.First is the characters, Goku has been rewritten and portrayed as an overconfident person who is WAY to nice to all people, in the show Goku fought Nappa, Freeza, and Kid Buu without showing them any kindness or ever over estimating his abilities, if Goku could not win he would have his friends to help him in a last ditch effort to use the spirit bomb, and Vegeta is just and unlikable prick towards everyone, now that's not to say he was not like that in the show it's just he became nicer and nicer as the series went on.Secondly is the random hate that Vegeta and Goku share for one another in this movie, if Goku and Vegeta fought an enemy they could not win against they would generally fuse and make Gogeta or Vegeto and fight someone like that, but in this movie apparently no one knows how to fuse minus Trunks and GotenThird is the fact that Goku did not even attempt the Spirit bomb, Goku and his friends knew that Bills was going to be a hard fight but at no point did any of Gokus friends help fend off Bills so Goku could make a spirit bomb like they have done in the past.Lastly is the fact the Goku just gives up and says "Your too strong and I can't beat you", At what point in any iteration of Dragon ball Z have you EVER heard Goku say I give up in a fight that meant Earth would be blown up, never you want to know why, because Goku never gives up, when Goku could not beat Kid Buu and Vegeta was down they wished Vegeta back from the dead just so he could continue fighting Buu so Goku could make a spirit bomb, then when Goku ran out of energy they wish for Goku to have all that energy back to he could follow through with his attack, at no point in this movie is teamwork shown unless the whole team gets beaten by Bills. If your really into DBZ you'll still watch it but you'll also notice all the flaws it has and you may agree that if Akria is going to go down this path he may as well just reboot the franchise and scrap the old one so he does not mess up the cannon any more
riuisenshi-238-376173 I'm quite honestly surprised by all the positive reviews this is getting. This movie was extremely disappointing to me. Let's cover all of the failings of this movie. Presented in the order I think of them:1. Was Kaio-sama's (Japanese) voice actor stoned during recording? He was not able to convey even the slightest bit of fear or panic.2. What was even the point of Pilaf and co in the movie? They did not affect the plot one tiny bit, and yet we spend an almost unbearably unfunny 10 minutes with them in an 85 minute movie.3. I dunno who killed the real Vegeta before this movie started and replaced him with this singing, dancing, acting-loving-toward-Bulma clown, but he's the true villain of the movie.4. Speaking of villains, Beerus was just lame. Stop me if you've heard this before. A mystical villain who is awoken from a long slumber, doesn't play by the same rule set as the main cast, who is all-powerful, but childish and capricious, doesn't think much of wiping out the entire planet, but is convinced not to and is only appeased by yummy foods or the chance to fight a strong opponent. MAJIN BUU MUCH?5. The ever-increasing uselessness of non-Goku characters is a well known meme in this show, but seriously, they cranked it up to 11 this time.6. I've never seen a group of people less concerned about their planet being blown up in my life. If they can't muster up the effort to care that the entire human race is about to be wiped out, why should I? 7. I'll admit, I'm a huge Gohan/Videl fan. The announcement of Videl's pregnancy was one of the parts of the movie I was looking forward to. The scene was nice, but Gohan's reaction struck me as weird. It left me wanting more.8. How did Shenlong know about the Super Saiyan God? He was created by Kami, and recreated by Dende. Neither of whom knew anything about the Super Saiyan God. Shenlong's power (and by extension, his knowledge) can not exceed that of his creator. Further, how would he have learned of something that happened on the other side of the galaxy millenia before he was created? 9. Goku was pretty out of character for his fight with Beerus. First of all, he showed absolutely no concern for fighting a GOD OF DESTRUCTION in the middle of a DENSELY POPULATED CITY.Then we find his only motivation for fighting was that he wanted to be stronger than Beerus. The fact that Beerus wants to kill the entire planet, including Goku's whole family, only occurs to him in a throwaway scene while pushing against the giant fireball. Finally, Goku gives up. The entire story of Dragon Ball is about Goku persevering through struggle, breaking all barriers and overcoming all challenges to protect those he cares about. And he just gives up? Seriously? There are more, but I think this hits the highlights.
