KnotMissPriceless Why so much hype?
Steineded How sad is this?
Sexyloutak Absolutely the worst movie.
Ariella Broughton It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
trishaade Let me start off by saying that I'm not a fan of felines. However, I'd heard so much about the musical that I finally decided to see the film.Visually, the movie is quite nice. The makeup, choreography, costuming, the cast and the set were all done very well. The singing was great and the movement of the actors, both as dancers and as "cats" was a sight to see. The special effects are also of note. All of that being said, I had a bit of a time deciphering what was being sung - I had to find the lyrics to follow along. And the cast did lip sync. The main problem is that there is really no plot. The viewer is introduced to different types of cats by their personality and, in some cases, where they generally could be found (the theater, a train, etc.) I find a movie without a plot quite tedious; I stuck around to the end only because of the visuals.Would I recommend it? Maybe if you have seen the play or if you already know the story has no plot. Maybe if you are a fan of felines in general or a fan of musicals. I can't say I would watch it again - It wasn't my cup of cream.
preston_peace Sure, it's beautiful. Music, costumes, and make-up are incredible. But you might as well watch a painting for two hours because there is no story to hold onto. Apparently reading T.S. Eliot's book on which it's based will fill things out, but art needs to stand on its own, and this just falls down. It's hard to believe that Cats is the second longest- running Broadway musical of all time. (Phantom is still going.) Perhaps repeat audiences kept watching Cats, hoping they would eventually understand the point some day.Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat was better. Sure, it also had the silly genre collections such as country western and calypso, but they worked to tell a story and were funny. For example, in Cats, Rum Tum Tugger tries to employ an Elvis Presley style, but it's just kind of gross. Whereas the Pharaoh in Joseph is built up as "The King," an allusion to Presley that makes sense and delivers humor.I suspect there was a good story that could have been told, but it fell short because there was no real context presented.
emmavasey-id This musical of Cats is the most favourite musical show because the first ever time I went to see cats the musical was in the Blackpool Grand Theatre when I was on holiday with my mum and dad. My dad said to me and my mum would you like to go and see cats the musical that was produce and directed by Andrew Lloyd Webber .The reason why I have chosen cats the musical is that it's an excellent musical and I love all the songs and dancing but I don't like Phantom of the Opera musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber it's not a good musical because I don't understand the French language and I also don't like opera songs all the way from this musical it's not the best musical to go and see . The favourite actors/actress of the cast of cats the musical is Victoria she is the excellent ballet dancers and I like it when Rum Tum Tugger jump off the stage to sit next to someone in the audience which I think that was the best idea that ever Andrew Lloyd Webber has done by letting one of the cast to jump off the stage to sit in the audience and he was so funny as well in the audience. I love all the other cast as well but the main person I look up to as a role model is Victoria because when I watch her on stage she has all the confidence to perform in front of an audience so that why it has helped me to build up my confidence to be able to sing and dance in front of an audience at my college performance . My dad got me an autograph from the main cast member which was called Old Deuteronomy who signed the programme book at the interval so that my dad came back to the seat next to me and hand me the programme with the autograph on it . My mum also brought me the cats the musical light up badge which I have still got today in my memory box. The other musical which is also second best is the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream coat that is done by Andrew Lloyd Webber which also the most interesting musical and its colourful which is more eye catching for other people to see .
drystyx This should have been a great musical, with all the money and effort put into it. As it is, we have a one trick pony. The hit song about memories is the only music in this nerve racking piece of noise. The song about memories is well designed and well done. In fact, everything is "well done". The performers do excellent work, particularly the less acrobatic ones, all skilled thespians. That even makes this worse, that their talents would be wasted on this horrendous script and music. The music is horrible. It is an ordeal to get through. Oh, the singers hit their notes, but it isn't their fault the music is complete garbage. The cats are much more animated and sociable with other cats than any cat in the real world. In fact, they are so unrealistic in character that one wonders if Weber and Eliot ever even touched a cat. The personalities given to them are the personalities that are given by the usual loud mouth red necks and crack-heads.Of course cats are quiet and without expression, so it is natural for humans to bestow upon them their own personalities in their imagination. The personalities bestowed upon these alleged characters are unlike any cat you'll ever meet. This is a totally alien world, and makes no sense. The script is horribly concocted. "Asparagus" is probably the only cat character who even remotely makes sense. Those who have dealt with lots of cats will shake their heads at this bomb.
