Alicia I love this movie so much
ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Mayank Singh Vijay Agnihotri(Shahrukh) is a rich spoilt guy who is in love with Shivani Chopra(Madhuri Chopra). But Shivani gets married to Ashok, which drives Vijay mad. Shahrukh here plays a repellent, unredeemable character. He is intensely fuelled by passion and wants to marry Shivani at all costs. He goes to all lengths to achieve that, even killing. The second part of the film even shows the atrocities inflicted upon women. The storyline though isn't perfect and suffers from loopholes.Performance wise, both the leads deliver good performance, especially Shahrukh Khan. The musical score is rather average and sometimes seems unneeded in a film like this.
the_birs After a long time of hesitation I've been watching this movie last night. Now my impressions about it: I didn't like the scenario neither the actors's play. I think it's too much: Baazigar, Darr and this one all talking topic: a man deeply in love with deep mental problems! For some reasons I don't like movies when SRK plays the psycho pat rules. Not that he's not convincing, just that he's better in more "normal" and normally romantic way (without being a killer or a psycho pat for as much".About Madhuri Dixit, she's a good actor yet for some reasons I don't like that much her way of acting in this movie (maybe not convincing that much).Any way watch this movie only one time ..no more.My vote: 5/10.
jrbleau If this movie is rated 6.6, I can only suppose that Indian movies are rated on their own scale, as their viewers' demographic is different. On the same scale by which Deliverance is rated 7.2, however, this movie would not rate higher than 3.The suspension of disbelief is staggering. The fight scenes, a major weak point in the several Indian movies I have seen, are worse than those in cheap '60s TV productions in the West (yet, Oriental expertise in staging fight scenes is right at their doorstep – Bollywood: use that resource and master it). Except for the somewhat inconsistent Shivani, the cast is a bunch of one-note caricatures. Events are opportunistic plot-wise, (for example, fires springing up according to the needs of the story rather than as a consequence of previous events, or an antagonist being inexplicably alone and helpless so that the protagonist can wreak revenge), and I can't for the life of me understand what the transvestites have to do with the story.I guess all the above can be explained away as serving the needs of symbolism, that the movie is not to be taken literally, etc, but that is a lazy way out. A little more realism and consistency is a matter of better writing. This laughable production is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Though I'm tempted to give it 2 stars, I'm giving it 3 because it overturns one of the conventions in Indian movies.Anyone wanting an introduction to Indian movies will swear off the whole genre if he begins with this one. Try the excellent Dil Se.. instead.
Ikky Khan I see that there already a few reviews but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in as well.Given that the movie was done was in 1994, it's obvious to the viewer that Shah Rukh's star was on the rise. Despite the average hair cut and the negative nature of his role, he still delivers charisma and charm in the role.Despite his immense success with romantic lead roles (Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai etc) it would be great to see SRK do more negative roles. (The forthcoming Don will be a refreshing change).
