Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
XoWizIama Excellent adaptation.
Bumpy Chip It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
timrock11752 Not only is the movie disjointed but the time line does not work either. Coburn's character is a WWII veteran and the film shows him as a young man with his daughter on a swing. The latest that could have occurred is in the early 50's but in the movie he states that his daughter graduated high school in 1983. As well, there is no way he could have traced the gun through the numerous gun shows and street sellers. I still don't get the plot either. Did the mugger shoot his daughter in the parking lot or did he shoot her in his house? Is the house shooting a metaphor for how responsible he feels? If he is the one who shot her, why didn't the police investigate him? Not a good movie.
bcpmd I remember the first time I ever saw a movie with Mr. James Colburn, it was on a T.W.A Jet Airline from New York to Oakland after having been to the Expo 1967 in Montreal, Canada, like a world's fair probably a strange concept today. Movies where just being introduced in the jet air craft a Boeing 707 now non-existence plane and unforuately a non-existence airline. He played a James Bond type role. But over the 45 years I saw some of his movies and I noticed a genuine love and increased professional ability in his acting.Mr. Colburn was a professional actor and a master in his trade. He should be remembered for ages and I will be a fan for life. Brian Pedersen M.D.
Chris Comley POSSIBLE SPOILER - if you havn't seen the film yet I suggest you return to this review later. I like Coburn so this had to be worth a look. And I have to say, the film was nicely put together, the pace is good, and I liked the gradually emerging situation until you eventually realise what's really been going on. Coburn is as good as you would expect, and Barbara Bain isn't too annoying for a change. However, once the situation *has* become clear, I'm left with one big question about the whole thing. How can Martin Tillman be chasing down the source and tracking the ownership of the gun? How come he gets the gun back? And, more important still, why isn't he in jail?
purpleaddict I saw this film at the Sonoma Film Festival earlier this year and was pleasantly surprised. It was not what I was expecting.James Coburn gave a tremendous performance and all the other actors were very good as well.I was able to buy into what the film was selling, but I was not expecting the twist at the end. About ten minutes before the twist was revealed, I starting thinking this was the direction they were headed. I just sat there thinking "No, that can't be where they are taking this." It was difficult to see the ending and I felt disturbed by the movie for a while afterwards.I recommended it to friends and think it is well worth seeing.
