Synopsis

Beautiful Mandy Lane isn't a party girl but, when classmate Chloe invites the Texas high school student to a bash in the countryside, she reluctantly accepts. After hitching a ride with a vaguely scary older man, the teens arrive at their destination. Partying ensues, and Mandy's close pal, Emmet, keeps a watchful eye on the young males making a play for Mandy. Then two of the students are murdered.

Reviews

RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
jtindahouse 'All the Boys Love Mandy Lane' is probably one of the strangest titles for a horror film I can remember. It sounds like something straight out of the romantic-comedy genre doesn't it. I think that's the first sign that this movie doesn't take itself too seriously, which is probably the best thing it has going for it because if it was taking itself seriously it would be rather terrible. Even for what it is, it isn't much worth watching. The whole movie just feels way too laid back. When you're watching a horror movie you should be able to turn it on at any point in the runtime and know within 60 seconds that you're watching a horror. Here it feels like you could go for about 30 minutes without knowing it. There is way too much down time. There's also a distinct lack of suspense ever created. Even when things do kick it up a notch later in the film it still feels very much by the book. You're also so annoyed by almost every character by that point that you want them to die. Then there's the twist at the end which (and I won't spoil it) is just so lazy and phoned in it's quite incredible. Some films can be absolutely horrible for 98% of the time and then an amazing twist comes along and saves the day. This is not one of those films. Twists should be something that make you take what you know and do a total 180. In this case it's more like a slight veer to the right. Not well executed. All up there's not a whole lot to like here. Give this one a miss would be my advice.
Filipe Neto There are moments in the adolescence when a boy gets so infatuated by a girl that it seems he has never seen a woman in his life, but there are girls who know how to take advantage of it. This is, roughly, the theme of this film, where a teenager girl seduces several boys with rather dubious intentions. Nothing new, therefore. It's just another teen movie, full of sexual cues (direct or veiled), violence and stereotypical characters that exist only to die. What I don't understand is why Mandy Lane appears as an irresistible and seductive woman when, in fact, she is just a girl who loves to tease the boys. Do boys love being treated like idiots? The movie tries to surprise at the end with a plot twist, but the attentive viewer already foresaw it for some time. Amber Heard is excellent at her character and could have done better if she had received more dense and consistent material to work with. The rest of the cast is on the borderline between the acceptable and the mediocre. This film lacked a better development of the plot and the characters, so it all seems a bit meaningless.
DogFilmCritic I had the same problem in this movie as with "House of the Devil" it was so hard to be an homage to classic slasher movies from the seventies and eighties, it forgets to be a movie of its own, people usually say "you don't get it, its supposed to be like that" i don't mind the essence but i expect more of a just run and stab, in the end all movies are trying to tell a story but now its more focused on looking like an old movie in every single way. There's so little reasons on WHY the killing is done, to the point its just hinted out, half of the movie its just teens being teens, that i have to admit they really nailed it, thats something good they act like actual teenagers do booze hungry, hormone crazy, insecure, trying to prove others there better than them, that was well done. The title of the movie to me sounded more like a revenge flick like "I spit on your grave" i wasn't expecting to turn out the way it did, Amber Heard really knows how to use what she is giving to work with and she pulls it of very well as the rest of the cast but thats probably it, honestly you don't have to rub two brain cells to know who is the killer, its painfully predictable, the cliché characters are all there, but I've seen worst, i just was expecting something different, prove me wrong or agree, out of curiosity give it a watch.
MisterWhiplash A critic once said this movie is a 'thinking man's slasher flick". Sure. If you've got a bag of rocks for a brain. All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is ugly looking, terrible characters, and when it tries to get you invested, guess what, there's nothing there to invest, except the same tired clichés and even misogyny that I could detect with the title characters treatment. And just when it was bad it got unpleasant with the round of twists in the last ten minutes it just got worse. If only a shred of character development had happened, maybe it would have something. But its an Emperor Has No Clothes thing, it has an air that more is there than could ever possibly happen that works well; sad that somehow the guy that has had a solid track record so far (I should say later as the release was reversed): the Wackness and warm bodies and especially 50/50. How this was worthy of his time and effort, I mean, in terms of directorial style here it's like a poor man's Tony Scott... which is saying a LOT.
