GurlyIamBeach Instant Favorite.
Stoutor It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
Huievest Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
Curt Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
clouds88 One of the most awaited movie of this year, is a good blend of action and emotion, where every actor fits into his character perfectly. The new generation Chavan is intense and deep, even if it is quite impossible to make Hrithik, with his chiseled body and erupting muscles, look poor.:) The popular Munna bhai will from now on be remembered as the terrifying Kancha Cheena though Rauf Lala too will be a strong contender for the 'Best Villain' award this year. Despite the fact that Piggy Chops doesn't have much role in the movie, she is fresh and lively. I just couldn't help admiring her in the beautiful maharashtrian bridal ware.:) Though chikni chameli was not as sizzling as excepted, the other songs in the movie, especially the romantic Saiyyan and the emotional Abhi Mujh Main Kahin made up for it.The famous dialog said by shehenshah of bollywood in the original, sounds equally enthralling when the new Vijay Deenanath Chavan says it during the Deva shree ganesha song. Though a few of my friends felt the movie dragged a bit ,for me, there was never a dull moment in the entire movie.Last but not the least, as one of my friend said, this movie is not for weak souls. ENJOY!
gorgonite 2 minutes into this film, my mother said 2 interesting things:This doesn't look like it's filmed in India! What does Agneepath mean!Desistan is becoming quite sophisticated judging by Agneepath. Take our hero, Krrish. Throughout 99% of the film we endure the pain of this loser.Traumatised by his father's suicide, Krrish abandons his mother and sister/daughter by pursuing a life of crime, as advised by his father just before he handed Kanchee the rope with which to hang himself!Still Bhagubhai has blessed Krrish in equal measure by making him Raj of a commune, consort of the lovely Priyanka and handsome to boot. Krrish however is not satisfied, as evident by the constipated and Filmfare winning expression that's graffiti'd on his face.Meanwhile Akhbar, from Amar Akhbar Anthony, makes an appearance. Akhbar has moved to the dark side and is now peddling girls instead of cinema tickets on the black market. Othwerwise Akhbar is the same old lovable rogue! He even does another Kawali in this film! KatrinaBen makes an appearance in the 2nd half of the film, mainly to keep the spirits up of any 11 year old boys still watching. However in the film Katrina is used by Kanchee to see if Krrish likes either girls, or boys, or dogs! Krrish passes because Kanchee finds out that Krrish is a Don, just like him, and so is worthy of a proper fight. After trying to put off the inevitable showdown for 3 hours, Krrish loses patience with his destiny and decides to go back and 'avenge' his father's suicide. At this point the film turns into total farce as Kanchee uses Krrish as a real life voodoo doll. Then everyone starts crying, except Krrish who will be having sharab with Karan.Pros - Holi and Ganesh Pooja celebrated with real claretCons - It's 3 hours long, just like HeatOverall - Forgettable
MartinHafer It is difficult for me to review Indian films. That's because we don't get many Indian films here in the US and although I have seen far more than the average American, that isn't saying much. I am sure most of the reviewers discussing "Agneepath" on IMDb are Indians and have seen hundreds or thousands of Indian films and are THE experts. In my case, my review might be best appreciated by an outsider who is no expert in these films.Like just about all recent Indian movies this one, inexplicably, has some singing and dancing in it (an odd thing you just have to learn to love about their films). However, it's not as pervasive and doesn't have the HUGE production numbers you might expect where all the cast sing and dance. That's because at the heart of it, "Agneepath" is a very, very violent movie about gangsters and revenge. Simply put, it is NOT a family-friendly film you should watch with your kids! It is, in many ways, like combining a Bollywood film with a Martin Scorcese crime film! If you don't want to see lots of blood and violence, then skip the film. Or, perhaps see the 1990 version of the film--perhaps it's less violent. The story begins on an island. A teacher (who everyone refers to as 'Master'--something that confused me at first) has spent his life being a good man and trying to instill the best values in his young son, Vijay. However, when an ugly punk (Kancha) moves in to take over the island and turn it into a living hellish crime empire, the teacher is in the way and discourages the people from trusting this new 'benefactor'. So, Kancha orchestrates an excuse to hang the Master--and Vijay witnesses this brutal crime. Despite Vijay only being 12, however, he's a VERY unusual child with a strong sense of right and wrong as well as revenge. And, for the next 15 years, he works his way up through a rival mob--gaining power and prestige until the ultimate bloody confrontation with the beast, Kancha.I've seen several other Indian mobster movies and this one worked better for me for one big reason. Despite becoming a mobster, Vijay appears to remain a moral and just man. Yes, he kills, but he kills bad people and all in pursuit of his righteous cause. And while he moves to the top of the mob, his ultimate goal is to not just destroy Kancha but the mobs themselves. Had his ONLY motive been destroying Kancha, the film would have been so much less satisfying. There was little not to like about this film other than all the blood as well as the shortest and easiest film childbirth scene ever (ladies, I am sure your experiences with being in labor were never THIS brief!). Plus, the ending, while satisfying, is a tad ridiculous (no one can be stabbed THAT many times and keep fighting--not even Rasputin). The camera-work was great and the film came off as very stylish, slick and professional. Karan Malhotra did a great job directing this one. I also loved the scene that came out no where with the cross-dressing army coming to the rescue--you just have to see this for yourself. Exciting, riveting and cool--the fact that Sanjay Dutt played one of the scarier villains in recent films sure didn't hurt. His role as Kancha just needs to be seen to be appreciated.
pulseps Agneepath is just name attract me to watch movie. i am big fan of original Agneepath movie casted with Amitabh and Danny. Hritik Roshan is one of the best actor in Indian cinema now a days and he is my most favorite actor! however, Hritik is totally unfit with Agneepath movie. he can not even satisfying his character in this movie. I would give 3 points to Hritik acting against Amitabh acting in original movie. Sanjay did fantastic role and he done right with his character in this movie. he is actually overcome with his role and acting against Hritik. I am not expecting this. absolutely not. role given to Sanjay is wrong against Hritik. Sanjays role has more strangth than Hritik role! surprising me. Sanjay vs Danny 10 point vs 10. however, director and story writers fault is giving batter role to Sanjay instead of Hritik."Totally disappointing movie if you know original Agneepath."
