SpuffyWeb Sadly Over-hyped
Luecarou What begins as a feel-good-human-interest story turns into a mystery, then a tragedy, and ultimately an outrage.
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Loui Blair It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
talvitie-jaakko Props for Arnie that he tried to do some drama, but come on! The story doesn't give any bigger message and the movie is not entertaining. If Arnold really wants to make movies where he doesn't kill his enemies from the first to final act, that is fine. But please, make sure that the story is complete. Here in beginning, I felt that this is going to give me something interesting. In hallway of the movie I was bored and then the whole movie just vanished. The movie feels like a school project where students learn making of drama. Even though it proves that Arnold can act some other role than Conan or Terminator. But then again, do we need a proof of that? We know that he is able to put his mind in anything and then just do it. This movie gave me nothing. I hope that making of this gave something for him.
Marcus N Well, I never considered Arnold to be a bad actor. He was perfect in T2 and Total Recall, two really good movies. But starring in a drama doesn't automatically raise the artistic quality of the performance. The story is said to be inspired by true events and maybe this is how it all happened, but it's nonetheless surprisingly devoid of substance. And while Jacob does a pretty good job in conveying his anguish, it's difficult to feel anything at all from Arnold's performance.
danpaine-822-525447 I have to say not the happiest of storylines out there, but a very well-acted and directed film. Arnold really stretches his legs dramatically here, and does not disappoint. The supporting cast are excellent as well. As others have said, don't expect overly much in the way of story, and most certainly don't watch it if you're looking for something happy and optimistic, but for a drama with some genuine emotion and feeling, Aftermath is definitely worth a watch. Glad to see Arnold getting into these types of films.
edward-05254 I should say from the start that it was gratifying to watch the depth of Arnold's performance... he plumbed down deeper than I've ever seen him emotionally. That having been said, the plot was mediocre and virtually every character lacked credibility. I had a very difficult time believing that these people would behave this way under these circumstances especially at certain key points in the story. I felt like I was watching cartoon characters from a rather disappointing graphic novel. If there was any takeaway, it came far too late in my tedious journey and seemed like an afterthought.
