Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
Whitech It is not only a funny movie, but it allows a great amount of joy for anyone who watches it.
bmalamug I've seen most of the reviews (mostly about weight and insecurity). Is anyone going to stop ignoring the fact that some of us like the "Fat" Hanna? She was so adorable, kind, and a really amazing person in general (besides what she did for a living on the phone, but that's just my opinion). Kim Ah Joong is pretty, but, in the movie as Jenny, she changed into someone awful over time. I guess she made up for it at the end. I wanted to see more of the old Hanna. Weight didn't really matter to me. Besides, either way, if you're pretty or ugly, you get made fun of anyways. For some who don't know, people get called "sl**" and "wh***" for being "pretty". For "ugly" people, they get made fun of for being "ugly". It'd be easier if people would stop doing that. It's kind of ridiculous, really, to push someone to change how they look. Anyways, Sang-jun was a very complicated person. He was nice, and then, he was shallow and mean. Then, he was nice again. It's repetitive. The movie was interesting overall.
kmast88 The first part of the movie was cute and funny and had a good message about inner beauty. I have no idea what the writer was trying to accomplish at the end though. During the last 30 minutes of the movie, the actors stopped acting, faced the camera and started naming the writers, directors, and producers. From then on, it was nothing but dialog from earlier in the movie repeated verbatim. The dialog was well-written and made sense the first time, but was completely irrelevant and without context the second time. The acting got worse too, as the actors were obviously struggling to deal with odd turn the script had taken. This movie had so much potential and could have been great if they hadn't fizzled the ending. If it weren't for the last 30 minutes I would have given it a 9.
purecrime Storyline ? Simple, common, and predictable like most of this kinda romantic comedies are. However i do not hesitate giving this film 10 stars, which does NOT mean this is equal to my other 10 star films like Godfather or Taxi Driver, but means this is at the highest for its own genre. Well scripted, superbly directed and paced, lots of funny scenes & emotional scenes, and the soundtrack is quite good also. You can laugh, think, and even cry in 2 hours, and you will feel good after the watch. What can we expect more for romantic comedy ?And what makes this film more special is the heroine(Hanna/Jenny), Kim Ah-jung. Wow.. She's so beautiful, cute, sexy, can act and sing. She performed this difficult role PERFECTLY. -- Spoiler --And what makes me love this film even more is that this film DOES NOT forcibly try to give viewers clichéd messages. Yes, it says "The inside is important", but it does not say "Appearance is nothing but the shell" or something which most of general people like us cannot overcome anyway. Even after the watch of this film, most of us shall still like externally sexy person than '200 pounds beauty' if both has same insides. The film knows it and face it. A dialog between Sang-jun & his associate guy at the very last part of film is PRICELESS summary of all this. Guy : Sang-jun, why do you like her ? Is it because she's pretty ? Sang-jun : SOB like you would say that Guy : Then it's because she's innocent ? Sang-jun : (Smiles and says) SOB like me would say that..
keski The best thing I like about this movie is that it doesn't "try" to pull out your emotions, which happens a lot in romantic comedies that end up being tragic nightmares. It has a simple plot, but has sweet and cute details, and I have to say all the scenes are pretty colorful and sweet, too.I missed the movie in theaters, and was watching it on DVD, found myself grabbing a tissue at the end. Actually, I was interested in the hero of the movie, but was greatly impressed by Ah-Joong Kim's performance. She can act AND sing. I'm not sure if the film will be fully understood reading subtitles, but anyone who watches this movie will need to absorb each and every line that's being said. ==spoiler=== The reference to the Canne-winning film Old Boy gave a comical twist and makes everyone chuckle. ANYbody can sympathize with the heroine, plus the hero is good-looking!
