Synopsis

Æon Flux is set in a bizarre, dystopian future world. The title character is a tall, leather-clad secret agent from the nation of Monica, skilled in assassination and acrobatics. Her mission is to infiltrate the strongholds of the neighboring country of Bregna, which is led by her sometimes-nemesis and sometimes-lover Trevor Goodchild. Monica represents a dynamic anarchist society, while Bregna embodies a police state.

Reviews

SnoReptilePlenty Memorable, crazy movie
Protraph Lack of good storyline.
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
dmri_nz The original animated series is definitely worth purchasing, regardless of how you feel about last years big-screen live action remake. Conceptually, this is the most complex show you'll ever see, it is beautifully drawn and offers insights and critiques into the human condition... And despite all this, it's main character dresses like a dominatrix and kicks the crap out of people. Where's the bad here people? Sometimes the lines between spirituality, science-fiction, and sociology are a little confused at times, but the series creator Peter Chung should be utilized a lot more by Hollywood than he is. Also, he should be closely monitored because someone who can invent and execute a show like this can't be playing with a full deck. Just as well, these people seem to make the best entertainment.
luckygman1970 This cartoon series has no beginning no end and no soul. There are no good guys, no bad guys. There is no rooting for anyone or anything, except for Peter Chung to make more. It is masterfully drawn and its minimalist style speaks volumes. I personally fell in love with A. F. because of the 'shorts', where the *SPOILER* heroine actually dies and the dialogue is non-existent. In the cartoon series there is more dialogue sometimes more than necessary. By the way it is so hard to call this a 'series'. The episodes have nothing to do with each other at all. They are all very different. I think this is exactly what the creator/director had in mind. The episodes are so different that if someone was to tell me that these A. F. episodes are a collection from different series, I would sooner believe that instead of it being a series of its own.
NW_Desperado I am not a experienced anime viewer at all. I have never enjoyed any cartoons at all to be exact. This was the first that I liked. I think what makes this particular series hard to watch for most, is that there is no dialogue, which for American viewers, is a must. We thrive on it.I enjoyed this series because it was the exact opposite of what I had been accustom to all the years before.I do agree that it is a little cheap in terms of the relationships, and how fast Aeon's decision making is, but I do believe that is the point of the show, that there is no time, and no room for error. This is no more evident then the episode "War" where she is killed, because she continues to make eye contact with a soldier in her army that is attempt to save them both from eminent death.I believe that this series was intended for the very experienced anime viewer, but it actually made the crossover to popular audiences, with no anime experience, such as myself. And now, I actually give anime a shot when I see new shows.
mitru Aeon Flux started as video shorts on Liquid Television. The DVD has 4 full length episodes, plus the original shorts. Each is a short story about our super sexy secret agent, and her trials and tribulations. Fun to watch, but I don't recommend purchasing. You can only watch Aeon Flux so many times before you're bored with it, as with most Mtv garbage. The anime was amazing, and the stories were clever. Aeon flux is a good 1 night rental.
