Alicia I love this movie so much
SnoReptilePlenty Memorable, crazy movie
Smartorhypo Highly Overrated But Still Good
FirstWitch A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
nikaprovidebit What started as a great and mysterious story ended up as an overly detailed yet not developed mixed. Pity as felt like the show has a potential. 1st season characters brought for short (and pretty useless) cameos into the beginning of the 2nd season added 0 value and just took the time, which could have been spent on developing new characters and subplots. Too many beautiful small details that went called leaving the viewer with rather confusion than catharsis, i.e. insight into the enemies' life, distopic society, flashbacks "explaining" the 1st season yet appearing in the 2nd, etc. Too many useless characters and interactions, i.e. we have a story of a brother and a sister, which wouldn't have been any less interesting if some scenes had been cutt off. The ending was a bit of a disappointment to say the least; probably the creators were hoping for continuation, thus left the viewer high and dry with lame hints. Highly recommend the 1st season.
william-03717 Many others have either said this is awful or it's great. Not many in the middle, but that's where I am. Good premise, but lots of stupid stuff. Towards the beginning. the main character escapes the hospital by nearly killing the nurse. He is then seen in town acting like a normal investigator, and everyone seemingly accepts this. No arrest, no more chasing or trying to convince him to go back to the hospital. In fact, he actually does go back to hospital several times for other reasons, but they just let him wander around freely! Nothing is locked up!When the character finds the decomposing corpse, the sheriff tells him that he's the main suspect, despite having been "in town" for only 2 days and the corpse was almost entirely decomposed. There are supposed to be cameras and microphones everywhere, yet the characters seemingly avoid this by just walking around. They are able to meet in secret or go on wilderness excursions without anyone being the wiser. The microphones don't seem to be very strong as characters continue to have conversations above normal volume. The main character sacrificed himself to blow up the elevator at the end of season 1, in order to save everyone else. That was unnecessary as he could have done the same thing without dying himself. As the others escaped the elevator and the monsters were chasing them up the shaft, the main character and his wife had time to exchange a conversation and a very long hug (before everyone had yet to escape out of the elevator - so they decided to stop helping others in order to stare at each other for a few seconds).I liked the mystery from the beginning, but many characters were all too willing to give hints about the reality of the situation, despite the consequences being a sliced throat in front of the whole town.Still, I found the story somewhat compelling. However, I am an all or nothing person, and I continue watching shows even as the devolve into lesser versions of themselves. Season 2 appears set up to be a repeat of Season 1, just with the next generation. I hope it has some saving aspects after reading about Season 2 being so horrible.I noticed another review saying that if you ignore the little plot holes, you can actually get some kind of enjoyment from this. I agree.
ssiina In news : Fox might finally get around to cancel Wayward Pines Why
villysmagicworld5 I had no great expectations upon watching this series. I was just looking for something fun to watch. And boy, did they deliver! This starts as something and then it goes on being something completely different, something utterly mind blowing. What's unique about this series is the ethical complications that are intertwined in the story. I'm not sure if people get this, or they think they are watching just another sci-fi series, but it's pretty thick in moral dilemmas with no easy way outs. Everyone keeps saying that season 2 was disappointing because the main characters all stepped out of the picture. But I say this is not about the life of Ethan Burke or his family, it never was. It is a sociological treatise if you like, about living in an experimental town. About fascism, conformity, greater good, evolution, animal ethics, etc etc. It covers a pretty dense theme base and I was very excited to having watched this. In my opinion season 2 is even better than season 1, though it's being made clear that there;s no more that mystery film you were watching. Questions remain, that's for sure, but we can no longer categorize this as a mystery series. I just kept thinking, what if Abbies are no evolutionary anomaly, but actually a step up from humanity? The idea is pretty old, older than biblical: Sodom and Gomorrah, Noah's ark, etc etc. Every civilization has a myth where humanity has strayed so badly that they only way to fix its errors is to wipe out and write on a clean slate. So maybe the Abbies are just the next step in evolution, like homo sapiens came out of the previous kind. People come out more evolved emotionally, they are altruistic, they empathize. Not everything is about intelligence. So maybe the Abbies are to begin civilization again from zero- a better, more humane civilization, and now that a place like Wayward Pines came to be, and humans are spreading like syphilis again, that will not possible. At least not without a fight. I hope there will be a season 3, because we've only just started to get a grip on what's really going on and I have great expectations from now on.There are a few things that could be better about this film, and by that I mean mainly acting. And some dialogues. That's no serious damage though, if you're into problematics and ethics you' ll love this one.
