CommentsXp Best movie ever!
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Frances Chung Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Kayden This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
swilliky The ruthless nature of politics turns to brutal jokes in the sixth season of this highly awarded HBO Comedy. Former President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) seeks to cement her legacy with a presidential library and a tell-all book. At her side, Gary Walsh (Tony Hale) continues to assist Selina along with his trusted bag and whisper in her ear all the names she is supposed to remember. Amy Brookheimer (Anna Chlumsky) hopes to get her new boyfriend elected but her rough tactics that were welcome in D.C. prove a little harsh in this local race. Dan Egan (Reid Scott) works as a new broadcaster after leaving the lobbyist industry. Jonah Ryan (Timothy Simons) finds success as a politician making one incompetent decision after another. Selina continues to be involved in international politics traveling to Georgia, the country, to oversee the first election. Her book depends on the diary of Mike McLintok (Matt Walsh) who she brings along with her. Also accompanying everywhere is Richard Splett (Sam Richardson) who is always ready with a hilarious comment. Selina forms a relationship with Mohammed Al Jaffar (Usman Ally) who helps her out of troublesome situations when she hopes to have a positive photo op. Selina's cold-hearted nature is illustrated most clearly in her relationship with her daughter Catherine Meyer (Sarah Sutherland) who has formed a relationship with Marjorie (Clea DuVall). ratatatuff I enjoyed The Westwing and The Newsroom. So I gave Veep a chance. And boy, was I disappointed. Extremely unlikable characters and lame jokes. I don't know what to say, it's just not funny. It's like a few deplorables from Texas decided to write a script. It's full of swearing and profanity and while I normally don't necessarily dislike profanity in series or films per se, in this case I do. Because it does nothing to the plot, nothing to the scenery, nothing to the feel. It's just showing some assholes being assholes. I don't know, maybe the writers thought that this is funny, but it's just annoying. It seems like some 14 year old teenagers teamed up with their grandparents, who just love to sing the old Dixie-song, to write the scripts to this series.I ended up hating Selina Meyers and her whole team. Why should I watch a series full of losers and pricks? It's lame and immature and at no point, never ever, does it reach the class of The Westwing and The Newsroom. This is just garbage. Dumb entertainment for dumb people.
maria-ricci-1983 I will be brief, as there are splendid reviews already in this forum. This is high quality, smart political comedy, including all kinds of smiles and laughs available to human response. It is political incorrectness validated as the political norm. The script, the direction and general tone, the cast, the actors, the fast paced dialogues full of wit. Please do watch it and enjoy this show which gets better as the seasons go by.Julia Louis-Dreyfus is AMAZING, she makes you love such an atrocious character with a shameless array of self-assumed faults and horrible traits--- which happens to be the President of US, and always manages to stay afloat despite her overt skill to make all the wrong decisions and fail at every move. But the cast is second to none. Every single member of the team excels and is a gem. It's a terrific-characters parade! You cannot stop laughing, sighing, raising your eyebrows in amazement. My congratulations to the wonderful Selina and to Armando Ianucci. I had my doubts about the American simile to The Thick of It, but I have to admit they both made a masterpiece here!
NotMoreMovies First off the cast is terrific, and I wanted to like this show, I really did. The plots just...how should put this...stink (aka s--k).I love Julia, I really do, she spews that crap those writers give her very well, but to be metaphorical...when I watch this show, it's like question marks are circling my head. I just can't "get into it." I'm like the only guy in the room who doesn't laugh at a bad joke...it's like watching Bob Saget do stand-up.I showed it to family members of mine when we got a free HBO preview just to make sure it wasn't me. They all said the same thing -- basically, "What the heck is this?" This leaves me with one question -- why do so many critics like this show? I don't know, I've given up trying to figure out their motives.
