Synopsis

Thanks to a Japanese scientist's invention of synthetic, blood vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures "coming out of the coffin." Religious leaders, government officials, and vampire fundamentalists around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.

Crwthod A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Tayloriona Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Derry Herrera Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
TigerHeron I liked the first few episodes. Then I started to notice a theme: Most of the female characters are constantly behaving immaturely, having tantrums or getting frightened, until a man (such as Bill or Sam) calms them down. A female character who defies this stereotype gets killed off fairly quickly. Yes some of the male characters are also jerks, but at least they can get through the day without having fits, plus they seem to have their own homes. Women in their late 20s live with their parents and I finally had too much when a female character who I think was supposed to be around 17 or 18 behaves like a three year old. I think Alan Ball thinks this is what women are like. He should be ashamed of himself.
alexiscardarella Okay, so initially, during the few episodes, I was like, "What the hell, Alan Ball.." I had really high expectations because of Six Feet Under and American Beauty. And then, to my surprise, it quickly grew into an extremely well written and well-acted series. I found myself getting engrossed in this supernatural yet mundane world. The characters, the story-lines, the performances: all top tier. I mean, Denis O'Hare, oh my God.. Evan Rachel Wood.. And they were only guest stars. ..Unfortunately, the series takes a turn in the 5th season as the series becomes, in my opinion, a little silly and less substantive, and by the 6th season (after Alan Ball stepped down as showrunner) it feels like a whole different series. I wish I could forget the last season. I was so disappointed that I'm still repressing it. That being said, this series remains one of my favorite series. I love the characters and cherish the actors' performances as them. I love the world Charlaine Harris created and how Alan Ball adapted it. And I will always appreciate how creative HBO let them get, letting it become one of the most distinguished, unique series of its genre. It's fun. It's irreverent. It's surprising and smart. It's got an array of LGBT characters and story-lines. Go watch it.
messages-lc Wow, this was horrible. It was so absolutely riddled with PC mantra nonsense there wasn't any room for actual content. This godawful show might as well have starred PC Principal. Moreover, the Southern stereotypes and accents were off the charts ridiculous. Man, to rail against bigotry while demonstrating your anti- Southern bigotry. Hypocrisy at its finest. What's even more, no one acts like these characters. I felt like I was watching an R rated version of Dawson's Creek. Is this what passes for an HBO series these days? Seriously?More importantly, though, the acting, dialogue, and scripting are absolutely atrocious. But you probably knew that if you sat through an hour or two of this garbage, so I won't waste my time.I just absolutely was not impressed. Fargo is 10x better. Watch that.
kamel121 I've been a fan since the second I watched this show. It's an outstanding series full of dry humour, unique yet traditional drama and a whole bunch of certainly not twilight theme. I love the story. Not a huge fan of the protagonist but hey, every other character makes up for it. Here you have a show that exceeds every aspect of a life with vampires. The lead idea of the show is vampire but they bring in werewolves, shape shifters and many others including fairies which no other show I have seen has brought to television . I've seen fans say it has fallen through but I don't believe it has . It's gotten more unique. I love that vampires are known, the synthetic blood, the tainted vamps, the religious red neck town, and Fangtasia . Beautiful . Every time I finish an episode I'm so excited I have to watch the rest. This show is pure genius thrown in with the occasional bad acting but once again, so many things make up for it. You got the blonde bombshell protagonist with multiple love problems, the hot womanizer who's an idiot, the gay black guy, the emotional vampire, the mysterious vampire, the sweet puppy eyed boy (literally), the dumb founded sheriffs, the damaged girl with major family problems, the sarcastic mono tone vampire and so much more! I'm so upset it's over but I'm happy they still did it and kept it going . This show has never failed to please me and it never will as I rematch it in the future !
