Synopsis

Remake of the hit 1960s television show. In the 21st century, Jeff Tracy, a former astronaut, amasses a colossal fortune and decides that he must use it to benefit others. His answer to this desire is to create International Rescue, a unique private emergency response service equipped with customized designed vehicles and equipment that enable the organization to react to any crisis whether it be in sea, air, land, or space. Jeff's five sons volunteer to operate as the pilots and field agents, as well "Brain" who acts as the teams engineer. In addition, Jeff's friend, Kyrano and his daughter Tanusha aka Kayo (based on the original series Tin-Tin character) agree to be the support staff. In addition to the field team, IR also maintains an intelligence network with Lady Penelope and her ex-con chauffeur, Parker as the chief agents in this arm.

SoTrumpBelieve Must See Movie...
Rpgcatech Disapointment
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
generaallucas Despite what everyone else is saying I think there is a lot in the series that tries to work with the nostalgia that comes from the old shows, like the thunderbirds themselves, the opening clip and even the CGI. Some parts of the CGI, the way characters and machines move, seem to be based on the old props from the old series. This is fine. The CGI is beautiful and provides a nice aesthetic and environmental storytelling to what is going on. That's fine too. Those were the two good parts of the show. The rest is just crap. The reason; the story. I don't have to give anything away, but there's just nothing to get invested in. I do not care about the death of the father, I do not care about the antagonist, there is barely any mystery and on top of that, it's just dull due to lack of conflict. See, it's good that there is conflict between the good and the bad guys. But life is more complicated than that, and so should stories be. There is never debate or events unfolding differently due to the main character disagreeing with how to deal with certain events. Everyone is just perfectly agreeing with one another. This is the part where the story just falls flat. None of the characters are interesting; everyone sounds the same, even down to the bad guys. I can't remember a single name from any character of the show. Nobody has any distinct personality traits. It's just so boring! Not recommended to watch, not even for the CGI eye candy.
chazview If I hadn't watched the original marionette version of this series as a kid, I probably wouldn't be watching it now ;-) They've done an excellent job of meshing the look of the original series with modern animation. About the only thing that could be improved on in that regard would be the characters walking -- they all look like they have a big stick in an awkward bodily location that is inhibiting a more natural stride.Story-wise, I'd have preferred it if the plots could have matured along with the animation, while still keeping it kid-friendly. A nice change would have been a season-long story arc, maybe 8-10 episodes as opposed to quick little 20-minute vignettes. Though if you're looking for something to set a small toddler in front of for 20 minutes to yourself, the search is over. Mom and dad can pretend to watch while they check Facebook on their smartphones. After all these years, there are a couple areas in which this story could definitely use some improvement: racial and opposite sex inclusion. An all-caucasian international rescue team, and all-male. There's one tech-support guy from India, but he's always in-the-office and for some odd reason they've handicapped him with a cartoonish speech impediment. There's a sister who'd appears as an infrequent afterthought, and grandma with terrible cooking skills. Lady Penelope is still around, and still communicating with the white-male rescue force with her mirrored clamshell makeup compact, with a chauffeur -- another character from India, but without a stutter.White men rescuing black people is an oddly common theme of the series, ideally the international rescue force would have been truly international. Seems like even though the characters are no longer controlled with wires, white people are still pulling the strings.Regardless of the lackluster storytelling, the animation is unique, imaginative and obviously includes a well planned effort to include inspiration from the original series.
estrellebelle No review sentence more damning then: this could have been great. Combining CGI characters with physical models was a bold and interesting move, and the result looks unique and charming. If the writing had been even half-decent, this would have been a modern classic. It took me a while to find out who perpetrated the crime that is this shows writing because the writers are listed at the very, very end of the credits, after the caterer. For the record, it was Patrick Rieger. If the script had been higher on the priority list, someone would have noticed how cringe-worthy the dialogue gets, and how illogical the plots are. Nothing wrong with the message that you can overcome everything through the power of friendship (even if it is not true), except when a show spells it out first and then proceeds to cram it down the audiences sore troath. The show has adapted the action, graphics and pace to modern standards , but the plot hand holding, jokes recurring till the end of time, and the overt wise lesson of the week, are worse then they were in the nineties. The show can not even claim to be educational because of the gaping plot holes, questionable morality, and misrepresentation of concepts like AI, Physics, Computers and Politics. Sad to see such beautiful imagery and love and dedication to visuals made unwatchable by a shoddy script.
wgc-15558 I watched the original when I was a kid, I think they have captured the spirit of the original, sure it is updated no strings :) But the stories are really good they still have some of the look of the original, the ships and landscape, was glad I found this brings the kid out in me again. I love countdown scenes, and I see they kept the big eyes of the characters. I hope they keep the quality up and this ends up being a long run. I don't see how anyone that watched the original could not like the remake, I feel like I have stepped back in time kind of. I like the cast the voices seem to fit the characters they are playing it is just fun show to watch.
