Synopsis

Mark Williams-Thomas returns to ITV for an explosive and ground-breaking new investigative series that shows how real life crime can be far more compelling than fiction. The murder of Carole Packman, whose body has never been found, continues to affect the lives of many of those involved and as Williams-Thomas discovers, the shocking tale of murder, fraud, deceit and lies has left family members desperate for answers. In a UK television first, The Investigator: A British Crime Story, will follow the case over four explosive episodes, combining stylized drama with compelling documentary.

Beanbioca As Good As It Gets
ShangLuda Admirable film.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
captainpat The producers must have realised that few people would be able to last four episodes. The padding goes on and on and on and on and on. It could have been over in one episode. I watched two episodes - and thankfully read some reviews on IMDB - apparently I have been saved further boredom. It's a sad story about Carole Packham. And it is also very sad storytelling.
rashid-36577 This shows is a waste of time, victim's daughter says that she was "friend" with a woman whom her father was banging in the same family house. Of course, the father-daughter duo sidelined the woman. Sam is s much guilty as her father is. She should be ashamed of being a daughter.
alvinos This is not a "documentary" and there is no "investigation". The whole thing is just the account of what happened, without even the details of the original investigation and the way the conviction was possible without finding a body. The guy just writes letters to various people and they reply to him in a fashion you would expect, giving nothing new. The only "twist" of the plot is that the person who was convicted first in a letter accepts the blame for the killing and then retracts it and claims he did it cause his lover left him and he wanted to implicate her to revenge her for that. Total rubbish. Repeats and recaps every 5 minutes in order to make it into 5 episodes! All interviews are not convincing. If you want to know the story, just google it. It will save time. This "documentary" has nothing to add to it.
Branzal48 This may be a spoiler so please be warned. There are four episodes, which constantly repeat the few facts that are found by the investigator, certainly he never arrives at an answer as to what actually happened to Carole Packham probably because the only person who knows, Russell Causley won't tell.It isn't the story however that is at fault, it is the way the 1 hour episodes are padded out to extend the series into 4 episodes. It would have been a very good 1 hour programme, perhaps 90 minutes.
