omegal I have to agree with the last users comments about reality TV and horrible writers for shows. This show, "The Book of Daniel" had great promise. Watching it took my interest almost right away. It was a complex show with many complex stories filled with problems just like real life. You really had to follow it and pay attention because it was a very multitasking show. I found it very entertaining and soap opera-like. The people that starred in it were a perfect match for the show. To me, I thought this show had great success written all over it. Yes it did have some odd twists in it but over-all, I loved it. I'm very disheartened about its cancellation that happened rather abruptly. They did say, before the show was about to air, that their would be great controversy in it. Well doesn't that reflect real life? Now no one will ever know the success this show could have brung to us all. What new soap opera twists were going to happen next. I feel it was a crummy decision to take The Book of Daniel off the air. This show always had great answers to the problems that existed on it. It was a teaching tool to me.Just like the other person commented, all we're stuck with, these days, are a lot of very boring and sometimes very graphic reality TV shows. I'm waiting for someone to die on one of the shows some day so they all will go. I guess the freedom of what you want to watch on TV now is now guided by complaints from it's viewers rather than the shows' ratings. This is truly a sad 21st century for television. If you don't like what you see, there is the remote control ya know.Omega..
bpkorpanty I can not believe this movie was cancel. Finally we had a story of real religion that accept everyone, story of family full of love and understanding. Our family fought it was brilliant, it gave us opportunity for discussion with our kids about importance of family ,about being there for each other no matter what. And the idea of talking to Jesus as a friend-that is what faith (any faith) is all about. Now days we are looking for right and wrong,we thought that movie gave some answers . There is no difference between people because of another sexual preference and it can even happen in very religious family.Me and my spouse believe in God which love and gives his love to every one. This is what we try to teach our children .That movie was a great help for them to understand a lot of issues in our world. We think it is a shame in democratic country people have problems with such a brilliant project and it is hard to believe there was not enough viewers to watch it and enjoy it.We need movies like this to show us that we can enjoy television without guns or violence.Shows that let our kids know it is OK to make mistakes and talk to parents because we are there to listen, we are there to help. Maybe it sounds trivial but I wish my parents knew how to talk to me a long time ago and more important how to listen. That was (for us) the message from"THE BOOK OF DANIEL" the time of our family for nice Friday night. All I can say ,we hope there will be more movies like that, movies which tell the truth give us themes for discussion. If we feel connected to universe and each others we need to show it and share it, give it and take it on our own individual level.Congratulation to producers and cast, job well done ,unfortunately not accepted by people who are not ready for the future television and movies.
DWhitney89 I really enjoyed this show. It was a good, funny show. Although it was only on for like 3 episodes, it was great. Imagine my disappointment when it was cancelled because of "controversal reasons". I can understand why Christain people wouldn't want this show on the air-it does make their religion look bad. But the one question that I have it "Did anyone make them watch it?" If they don't want to watch it, there is an off button on the TV. No one made religious people watch it. I know there were a lot of churches that said it was "their duty to stop this show from airing..." What a joke! This show should not have been cancelled,at least not for such a dumb reason.
ddidee Finally, a refreshing and humorous look at religion and the realistic view of a priest and his foibles--including his flawed family...and it bites the dust! (Aiden Quinn was outstanding!) Of course the religious right had to stand up and scream and yell at how blasphemous it is....OH YEAH, like any Church is saintly! (Ha!) This was a well acted ensemble piece that was wry and fresh. I can't stand the reality shows...give me some interesting scripted TV any day. Too bad that some stone-throwing Neanderthals in the Bible Belt took offense. If they didn't care for it--THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST CHANGED THE CHANNEL! That is called "CHOICE"...something that we are supposed to have in this country. Apparently, the fundamentalist wackos want to take over the communications in this country--if they had their way, we would only be allowed to watch 'Leave It to Beaver' re-runs!
