Ensofter Overrated and overhyped
Platicsco Good story, Not enough for a whole film
Jakoba True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
Francene Odetta It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
fritzb-73059 I've never been able to understand why a person would watch an entire seven year series, hating it all the way. Option: Turn the channel. You've got nothing to lose. It's not like in the theater where one might sit through a tepid movie because they paid admission. Voyager was free. Take it or leave it.Personally, I enjoyed the show. I liked the plot, the cast, and most of the story lines. I appreciated the mix of drama and action. Voyager, in my opinion, was a very good program. Had I not felt good about it... I would have turned it off. Problem solved. Not every series is going to be a masterpiece. Not everyone is going to like every show. If it's your cup of tea, drink it. If not, put the cup down.
Erik I'd like to state according to my own taste, that this one is the best of the best when it comes to Star Trek series.I have a friend who can't stand the way Janeway talks, "whispers" when she's really serious. And I can understand the sentiment, because sometimes Mulgrew just goes a little bit over the top with her mannerisms. But I must say, she and almost everyone else on this show does a solid work throughout the seven seasons. I also concur with Mulgrew herself that it's a kind of a shame that they included Seven of Nine into the series in such a blatant sexist male chauvinistic way. And that after Mulgrew fought for her own right (and all the other women on the ship) to play a starship working crew member without all the preconceptions of nerdhood views of women in space. All in all, I am sad it was *only* seven seasons, I could've watched a hundred more, if the crew on the most wonderful ship in all Star Trek-dom would've had the stamina and interest for it.
vanillamochaccino Can't get enough. This is the first Star Trek I have been openly exposed to. Even in the middle you can sort of figure out the plot and enjoy, and just 'join in' while still getting 'a hang of it', even though watching earlier episodes does bring in a fuller experience and fleshes out the experience of the story. It's got a good mix of many things that all people can enjoy: action, adventure, drama, comedy, and yes, some romance, too. The characters are also very varied and a sizzling mix. Like one of Neelix's soups.Especially good for people who enjoy a Social Sci-Fi of sorts (like me), while not being one completely, does have some elements of it. There is a lot of character development. Of course some good ol' Action is also available. Some Episodes were disappointing and didn't use their full potential (in my opinion, "Equinox I" and "Equinox II" didn't really use its full potential), but I think you will have to make up your own mind. All in all an enjoyable show.
lancer165 I am re watching this series along with DS9. At the end of the millennium I had a period of illness that debilitated me. I thought It was my time to go boldly. As it was it was diagnosed as diabetes but it took some many months for that and 18 years later and many insulin injections I am still here for now. I have not been an extra burden on our health service other than my medication needs and regular check ups. I am again semi confined as I now have a tumor on my Pancreas, yes the organ that regulates insulin. So it is watching Star Trek again but able to binge this time. I am sure that I missed a few episodes by being well enough not to be in bed , wife not interested in such things but did like STARGATE.I enjoyed both of the mentioned series. I did not get into TNG very much. Data annoyed me and the blind one who could see. I have more time for Stewart as Bullock ,American Dad, than as the enterprise captain. The story lines are all the ones we know but set in space. My big gripe has always been the use of the role play holo deck. This is a get out for story lines in my opinion. Similar to the many encounters of semi primitives who always have made up forms of culture and faith based on our own earthly types. I am always less than impressed with the costumes and the variety of bipedal life forms who differences are rarely explained. I enjoy SCI FI of this kind but find those aspects hard at times to follow. My other gripe is space combat being displayed as similar to WW2 dogfighting when small craft are involved and that when big craft are involved that there is a possibility of survival when seriously hit.The characters have to grab your attention quickly in series such as these and it is not odd that so many have picked on the virtual doctor as a top one. His delivery and interpretation are class but like so much will not be understood by all viewers. As an aside I feel that the Simpsons should not have been shown as a children's program. They cannot understand a great deal of the humorous lines. The doctors perceived arrogance in a human would have a classification such as aspergers syndrome. My mission is to now see all the episodes and much more while I can. Maybe my demise will see me travel 75 light years to somewhere. Who knows?
