Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
Diagonaldi Very well executed
WillSushyMedia This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
BellaFox Jonah makes an excellent Robin Hood, in fact the whole cast was great! I really enjoyed it, the story, the characters, the bonding. All up until 03x02, from there on I ignore quite a bit of it. Sure there were some cool parts in Series 3 but I personally enjoyed s1 and s2 more. If Kate didn't replace Marian, which no one could have anyway, I believe I'd enjoy s3 more than I did, although a sad ending, it was a good ending. Robin found happiness, and peace.
jb2k20 Well first preview ever, I once saw the first episode and immediately didn't like it. Robin used foreign weapons and well the whole costume designs were a little weird. Actors were some well placed some less, especially in the first seasons there were only the bad guys who stole the show, Gisburne and the Sheriff were nice. Of Robin and his Merry Men only John was a nicely cast the rest was to generic and lacked character. SPOILERS--In season 3 we see Friar Tuck and instead of what you expect he's a colored man. Not the Friar you know from ballads and other shows but completely weird. The story goes from OK to not so OK, it has some good point but also weird things. Every child could understand some so called secrets in the storyline, Allans first screw-job and they can't figure it out. Also the weapons some Djac and Kate use more ninja like weapons than Saracen weaponry except Robin. It was medieval time-line yet I have seen men wear boots with laces, the leather coat's instead of some capes. John's Black Knights wore face-paint under their helmets, we never learn how the Sheriff returned and got such an massive army. Women fight easily against the soldiers is very normal these times apparently and needed in every series. When Gisburne gets a special armor he seems invulnerable, he even gains extra strength. The music was decent yet forgettable, except the main theme and that was getting annoying. Since that theme was played when they came into action, and was very short.--SPOILERS The show just didn't do it for me I finished it but it didn't leave a great impression.
Nikita Wannenburgh OK, I was taken aback when I started watching this. From the first scene it seemed cheesy and a bit dry. Only from about the third episode did it heat up for me. Robin of Locksley returns from the Crusades with his friend Much and starts flirting with Marian again despite the fact that she remains aloof and haughty with him at first. He comes to take control on his lands again but finds himself uncontrollably dissatisfied and shocked by the Sheriffs cruel treatment of the peasants. Unable to hides his feelings, he fights back and is outlawed for it. It's not historically accurate. The costumes are not in tune with the era and the dialogue isn't historically correct either. However, this version did add some spice to the usually 'bland' tales of Robin that I've heard. Having said that, I must be completely honest about my feelings after the first two episodes. I love it! The dialogue is smooth and quirky, not to mention some witty and hilarious characters. The characters were the main attraction for me. They are all colourful, contrasting and all had their own different personalities and individual stories. It was not all centered on Robin, but on their lives as well and how they coped with the world. I love the love story between Robin and Marian, and the fact that there's romance between some of the Outlaws amidst the gang is also an exciting and unique twist. Clearly, Robin and Marian's romance wasn't the only romance in the show and thus it's more believable, enjoyable and interesting. It wasn't until about the seventh episode "Brothers in Arms" that I was feelings sorry for the characters and really feeling their pain. It is rightly called a drama but the drama really took a more 'dramatic' feel from the seventh episode onwards. Series 1 is more a light-hearted than the other two series. Series 2 is a bit more 'edgy' and Series 3 I was disappointed to see has many new story lines and characters that I don't find convincing or enjoyable. The acting was good too, despite the fact that most of the cast aren't well known at all. The producers and directors wanted a younger cast for their version of Robin Hood, and I thought this was a brilliant adaption. Jonas Armstrong was a different type of Robin Hood, but I liked him as that, apart from him being a bit skinny. He and Lucy Griffiths had great chemistry, and she's also a gorgeous beauty. I appreciate the fact that she's not the blonde, skinny Marian we usually see in Robin Hood, and that she had some interesting fire and spunk. The best actors and actresses for me were Richard Armitage, Joe Armstrong, Lucy Griffiths, Harry Lloyd, and Joanne Froggatt. Armitage and Armstrong were both brilliant in their depictions of their chosen characters, and Griffiths was a different yet believable Marian. The casting was good. The Sheriff was made into a sarcastic and annoying man, and was a nice change. But my general feeling is still "Watch it!" I love it, despite the inevitable flaws!
studioAT OK,let's face it, this version of the Robin Hood legend won't win any awards for it's historical accuracy or even it's costumes but as a mildly engaging Saturday night show it's a lot better than I think people give it credit for.The cast are good and for the first two series the plots were well constructed with nice finale episodes. However in the third series the show lost it's way and more and more complications were being added that didn't help things for Robin or us as an audience.Overall a decent enough show for the first two years. My advice would be to stop there though.
