Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
annrdot Last night on August 2, 2018 there was a game between two women. The first woman's question was "to get a politician's attention you should put ______ between the pages". She said woman and the stars said centerfold. The judges did not accept that - OK. But then the other woman answered whiskey and the stars said Jack Daniels. The judges accepted that. Do you know how many whiskeys have men's names. A lot. I don't understand the judges decision on that one. The lady who lost should be given another chance. The difference shown was quite obvious.
scroggse This show is awful. Rude host and guest stars. I will not watch again. They think they are funny but most are just dumb. They need to stick to being a game show and not a political statement. You watch a game show to be entertained. They seem to use it for their own personal views, which I do not care to hear. Very bad written show. They need to watch the old match game shows to see real humor and not insults. Also it would be nice to see better guest stars. They only have people you have never heard of and celebrities that no other show would have. Also Alex Baldwin isn't a very good host. Another actor that can't get another job. It's just a bad show all the way around.
tlaurance Growing up in the 70's, I had an appreciation for the old Match Game. Gene was charismatic enough to highlight the stars' talents and was very welcoming and respectful of the guests along with being carefree and funny at the same time. I normally like to watch Alec Baldwin, however as a host for this show, he appears a bit desperate for attention and getting laughs, rather than facilitating laughs from the stars. I actually think he would be better as a guest star rather than a host in this one since he has a very strong personality and he has the potential to be very funny, especially in the role of filling in the blank. Additionally, this version of the Match Game is not nearly as clever as the old version from the 70s. Most of the questions are blatantly requesting a sexually-toned answer -- not nearly as subtle as the old version. It's crude enough that my 17-year old daughter would probably be a bit uncomfortable watching it with us. I actually don't even think she would find it that funny because the jokes are kind of gross sometimes -- desperately gross. Don't get me wrong -- I'm no prude, but after a while, its just not that funny anymore when ALL the questions and answers are naughty and crude. It's much more fun when most of the questions are a bit challenging/creative without being so naughty, while highlighting our current events of this era -- but then adding a few shockers/blurts of naughtiness from time to time. It just seems like everyone is trying a bit too hard to be crude and R-rated instead of keeping it mostly PG with a 'hint' of R-rated innuendo. Regarding the guest stars -- I got the feeling they were roped into doing the show. I felt bad for a few of the contestants because some of the stars didn't even appear to try to win them money (or perhaps being on a game show just wasn't their thing). I'm not a big Rosie fan, but I found her quite enjoyable on this show -- she had some of the best answers and was the 'Richard Dawson' of this era. My advice -- get Betty White and a few more classic, well-known clever stars on the show, tone down the questions a bit so that the answers don't HAVE to be so naughty in nature (keep a few shockers in there), and this will be much better. I have hopes this show will be fine-tuned so I will keep watching. :)
kingbk-2 I saw some of the reviews on IMDb for the new Match Game on ABC and they were very negative, which shocked me. For the first time since the 70s/80s era one went off the air, it feels like they finally got it right. I love that they kept the old theme song, I like that the set, while modernized, is very similar to the 70s era set. The panel I thought was pretty strong, with Rosie O'Donnell and Ian Michael Black in particular looking like potential regulars. Alec Baldwin was fine as host, not terrific, definitely not Gene Rayburn, but he did a good job all things considered. There were certain moments of awkwardness and creepiness, but not too bad. I even loved the skinny microphone! I thought the questions were written with some provocative nature, but not over the top sleaze (Steve Harvey Family Feud, I'm looking at you). Sure, the Costco one was a bit much, but compare this to the failed late 90s remake of Match Game and this one is more tame and not as difficult to watch. The celebration after the audience match seemed a bit excessive and over the top. That should only happen after a successful Super Match. Overall, I thought this remake was pretty well done. Not perfect, but much better than some of the reviewers think.
