Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Megamind To all those who have watched it: I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.
Lachlan Coulson This is a gorgeous movie made by a gorgeous spirit.
Lela The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
arv-55231 When looking at the rating for this particular show on IMDb prior to watching it, I was quite disappointed to find it sitting at 6.3. However, with Spider-Man being my favourite superhero and having seen all the other Spider-Man animated series' and films, I wanted to see it. The Spectacular Spider-Man was great, we all know that. I did not enjoy the Ultimate Spider-Man much and the 1990s version was just decent. However, as a Spidey fan, I feel this new one is a bit underrated. Most aspects of this series I really do like:Spider-Man/Peter Parker: This is as good a Spider-Man/Peter Parker portrayal as there will ever be. He feels and looks just like he should. Peter Parker is the science kid and is always innocent and busy. Spider-Man is very funny and cool to watch. I loved the Spectacular Spider-Man, but this new Spider-Man/Peter Parker, is just as good. (10/10)Supporting Characters: The supporting characters are different to usual. Peter Parker does not go to Midtown but to Horizon High, which is designed for science kids. There's Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn and a few others. Although the interactions are all good, personally I am not a fan of Miles Morales being part of a Peter Parker Spider-Man story. I feel it takes away from Peter Parker's Spider-Man, yet the emphasis is always really on Peter Parker's Spider-Man. Despite the limited role of Miles Morales, I would have hoped he just wasn't part of this series but he really is quite likeable. I prefer Spider-Man going to midtown high, with the constant interactions with Flash, Sally, Liz, MJ, Gwen etc, but this version suits me just fine after watching it. The one issue I do have is that there is too much focus on Peter Parker with Harry Osborn. I would have preferred to see more ineractions with the other supporting characters; Anya, Gwen, Miles, Aunt May etc. (9/10)Story: The villain stories are a bit far fetched as they always are, but sometimes it does get a bit ridiculous, but because it's Spidey, and it's fun, it's still enjoyable to watch. As mentioned previously, I do wish they showed more of Peter Parker's life though, say, more interactions with Aunt May, and even more interactions at Horizon High. In the Spectacular Spider-Man, they balanced Peter Parker and Spider-Man very well. Here, the two characters are balanced well, but most of Peter Parker's interactions are with Harry Osborn, I wish they would bring other characters in a lot more often. Something which is quite likeable is how the villains are dealt with, it's always something related to science and the people around Peter Parker. He and his friends usually work together to come to a conclusion in which they all use their scientific brains. That's a huge factor of Spider-Man and i'm glad this series shows that. (9/10)Overall, I feel this a very underrated series. If Peter Parker was the only Spider-Man, and if more of Peter Parker's interactions were shown with Gwen Stacy, Liz Allen, Flash, Aunt May and others, I would have probably have liked this series as much as the Spectacular Spider-Man series because they have got the character of Spider-Man/Peter Parker spot on here. As a Spider-Man fan, I recommend it, it's better than the Ultimate Spider-Man (which had too many outsiders coming into Spidey's universe) and also the 1990s version (As I prefer a younger Spider-Man/Peter Parker).
uncle-chaz I'm a big spidey fan, so I have watched pretty much everything with the name slapped on it.Me and my girlfriend decided to check this one out after finishing 'Web Warriors' and I'm not gonna lie, it's had me gasp at times, as they have really added a grittier feel to this series, often referencing some of the cheesy, overplayed scenarios we've seen before (ie, mind-control in the USM series, I loved that show, but it did get tiring hearing "THIS ISN'T YOU! YOU NEED TO TAKE CONTROL!" almost every episode. However, in this series, we are often lead into a a false sense of security and all of a sudden BAM! Plot twist. And in one instance, a double plot twist, and a brutal one at that. When watching this show, you must bare in mind it is Disney XD, so it won't be ripping limbs or fighting criminals that are twisted to the point of an R-rating, of course, but it's final episodes (SPOILERS AHEAD) the entire city is turned into spider-men, allowing everyone to swing and climb around town. This story-line at first had me and my girlfriend questioning if they'd made a big mistake.. until everyone in the city begin turning into giant spiders (referencing the original 90's series where Spideys mutation turned him into a giant spider) which was really fasinating to see. Miles Morales is a definite bonus to this series, as only three months after Peter is bitten, Miles is bitten too, showing a beautiful learning curve for the both of them working alongside each other. In conclusion, this series is a great watch. Of course it has its tedious story lines at times, almost like 'filler' moments, but I was gripped. And I have to mention that Peter kicking Harry in the face and shortly after beating Ocs mind-control was genuinely a fantastic moment. Watch it, and make your own decision.
vexborgface I realize I am not the target audience for this particular incarnation of Spider-Man, and that's why I rated it a 6, instead of a 4.This toon is fine. It's not great, and for my personal taste, it's not even really that good...just...fine. The plots are rushed and extremely surface-level, and there are a lot of inconsistencies that I can't even imagine younger teens being willing to overlook, much less an adult viewer. The insertion of multiple characters per episode, and new ones in each new episode may excite fanboys and fangirls who just want to see all the fight and flash, but in relation to plot, it just feels like they're all thrown in there to sell toys and breakfast cereal. It's not cohesive, and they treat you like a 5 year old one moment, while discussing vaguely correct scientific terms, the next. I understand we live in a faster-paced world than the one these characters originally matured in...but I feel this is dumbed down & sped up, to the point of not being worthy of the attention of a discerning viewer. On the positive side, it's easy to watch and does have decent quip-writing, at times, and the pace fits Spider-Man, fairly well, if you don't have any real interest in story. If you can just turn your brain off and enjoy the existence of it, then it will at least be good background noise. Again, I am not the demographic...so I guess that's OK. If you have kids...watch this with them. They will enjoy it, and you probably won't hate it.
Joseph Godfrey Disney has crapped out a toy commercial in 'Marvel's Spider-Man'. Although, I know I'll be buying the Miles Morales Spider-Man when it becomes available. I don't like Spider-Man team ups. Ultimate Spider-Man and his "Web Warriors" was ridiculous with characters going to bed in full uniform. This 'Spider-Man' version is just filled with new action figures with simple story lines & poorly executed drama. To start, we generally have to suspend disbelief with superhero stories, but I just watched Peter Parker's first outing as Spider-Man with "Horizon High Part 1& 2" aka 'New Beginnings'. This is the earliest Spider-Man wearing goggles & a hoodie; This Spider-man hasn't full control of his wall-crawling powers as he couldn't let go of a pigeon. He was also still calculating his untested web-shooters before diving off of a building. Peter then steers the criminals' get-away van into a skateboard park of teens, all in order to prevent anyone from getting hurt on the street. In other versions of Spider-Man the writer(s) at least show a quick montage of Spidey perfecting his skills before putting himself & others in danger. Peter goes up against the Vulture and comparing the vulture armor to the armor in Spider-Man Homecoming, it's a little disappointing.'Part 2' begins with Spider-Man fighting the Scorpion. You start to recognize a lapse in costume design between the Vulture & Scorpion. It's that Disney minimalist style to help draw the animation faster. I also caught one goof where Spidey switches the track on a subway train to save himself ... In the next shot the train passes, but it's still on the same track as Spider-Man. That's says, "a rushed job" to me.Art-wise, the show is fair. It's not great animation. Some of the black outlines for hands & faces are rather thick and there's not a lot of effort in the details. I do like the early look of Spider-Man wearing the jogging outfit, hoodie and ski-mask with goggles, because it actually makes more sense than Peter sewing together a costume from scratch. The voice-overs were a bit off to me; Fred Tatasciore as Max Modell was the only voice-actor I recognized here. Robbie Daymond sounds like you'd expect Peter Parker to sound like, but he doesn't alter his voice when speaking as Spider-Man. Patton Oswalt as Uncle Ben was not the best choice. I've always known Uncle Ben as a stoic respectable figure and Patton Oswalt as a goofball comedian. Listening to Patton Oswalt do Uncle Ben's laugh was eye-rolling; It's like he phoned in his voice-overs with zero effort. I'll continue to check on this series, because I do like the artwork and I know to expect the Miles Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen & Spider-Girl. They're all strong enough characters to have their own series, so I'm guessing this is a sort of testing stage for that. In my last opinion, it would have been a better idea to make the Miles Morales Spider-Man series instead. Although that tale deserves better writing than these disposable scripts.
