Lumsdal Good , But It Is Overrated By Some
Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
jasminemcdanielcutiepie what up y'all that is sum real bull they canceled my show off channel 21 to play one on one. Martin Lawrence is my soul mate and is also known as "MY HUSBAND". Everybody always asking me y i Love him so much, i Jud ask them have u seen or heard him. my step-daughter name Jasmine Page, (also my first name) love me so much. Lark Voorchies and Patriciadumb, but I'm glad they gave him up. if they would of never gave him up he wouldn't be married to me.i get in trouble in class because i am always talking about Martin, people be telling me to shut up. i almost got into it with this girl because she said Martin was her baby daddy. well all i got to say that was messed up how channel 21 did my husband. that was the best show on t.v. but luckily channel 53 (t.v. one) plays my husband on their channel. i love him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SonicStuart Martin Lawrence is laugh out loud funny! This is my favorite 1990's sitcom next to "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"! I think it's hilarious that Martin Lawrence plays some other characters in the show besides himself. The other characters that Martin Lawrence plays besides himself are Mama Payne, Sheneneh (Martin's neighbor), Otis (the security guard), Jerome (the gold tooth player), Roscoe (the snot-nosed kid), Bob (the white guy), Elroy and many others. Martin Lawrence stars as Martin Payne and the series focuses on Martin's romantic relationship with girlfriend Gina Waters (Tisha Campbell), his job changes from a radio personality (Seasons 1 & 2) to a television personality (Seasons 3-5) in Detroit, and the variety of friends Martin hangs out with along the way: the loud-mouthed and sassy Pam James and his best friends Tommy Strong and Cole Brown. Martin Lawrence is hilarious and I think his friends Tommy and Cole are funny too. This show premiered on FOX back in August 1992 and lasted for 5 seasons until May 1997.User Rating: 10/10 BOTTOM LINE: HILARIOUS
muttley79 My favorite "Martin" episode was when Martin, Gina, Pam and Cole told their versions of how Martin and Gina met. Martin portrayed himself as a pimp that Gina was all over, while Gina had Martin as a shy nerdy type guy. Pam had Martin, Cole and Tommy as thugs, while Cole's version lasted only 5 seconds, with Pam all over him (yeah, right!)But Tommy's version was the closest to the truth, with him, Martin and Cole crashing a private party that Gina and Pam attended. Cole and Tommy wound up getting thrown out by security, but Martin somehow convinced Gina to tell the security guard that he was her man, even though they never met before. Quite interesting. Also, any episode with Dragonfly Jones is funny as I don't know what. If anyone remembers the episode when Martin and Gina first met, let me know! Peace!
imlilshowoff My oh my, where do I begin? It's just a real shame that this show never won any kind of Golden Globe or for that matter any kind of acknowledgment from mainstream Hollywood for the work that Martin did on this show. In case you've never seen Martin its about a rude, comical radio disk jokey (Martin Payne) who lives in a modest apartment in Detroit. He has his boys of course: the misogynist dingbat (Cole Brown) and the sensible (Tommy Strawn). Then there's the light of his life (Gina Waters) whose a boogie business woman who somehow finds Martin as irresistible as he does her. And then there's her partner in crime (Pamela James) whose a tough as nails sort of man-hater (especially when it comes to Martin). But the best thing about 'Martin' I would have to say is the all the multiple characters that he played, which I don't think has ever been done consistently by anybody on TV except Flip Wilson. Everybody gave great comedic performances though on here, and yes even apple head, I mean Tisha Campbell was good too. And the writing for each episode was also on point. '92-'95 I'd have to say were probably the golden years of 'Martin', but then between the forth and the final fifth season the show was clearly in trouble. Martin's personal life was attracting more attention than the show, and then came the rumors that he was sexually harassing Campbell. She left the show towards the last season and as a viewer you could see that there was definitely something lacking. I know I lost interest but tuned in for the final episode which was ridiculous because Gina and Martin were never in any scenes together. Like every series finale the Paynes moved to California and left 42 (that's the apt. #). But still 'Martin' has remained on the tube thanks to reruns and we can understand once again why this show had it all. **** all the way. I love you Martin!
