Only recently, I came to know about this series and started watching a bit hesitantly. Trust me, It's really intriguing. The plot moves on real quick with seriously detailed characters. Initially, as you would expect, it crawls at a slow pace, but it's really understandable as it's all about building the story.

A friend recommended this series and I only watched the first episode of the first season. It was terrible. The acting, dialog, and production values were lacking. I couldn't bring myself to watch a 2nd episode. The main character was snarky and mean. The situations that she gets into are so contrived and her reactions aren't realistic. She spends too much time personally calling her boss for no reason (plot- wise or work-wise). If it's supposed to be a comedy, it isn't funny. A crime drama, it's not that interesting or realistic. X-Files, nope, not at all.

To understand Haven, you really have to watch and after a couple of episodes (if you're a Sci-fi fan) one is pretty much hooked. I was and still am. The show can seem repetitive at times, and that's really its only flaw, if there is one. The characters are great, the story line draws you into each episode, and the show has heart. As you move along from season to season you can't help but wonder what will happen next to the characters in Haven. Most of the show is rated TV-14 for language and thematic elements. Its not necessarily meant for the younger crowd, however, it is tastefully written. All in all, its was great show. To truly understand it, you would have to watch it. Right now (not sure how long it'll be available) Netflix has all 5 seasons streaming. So watch while you can. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

If you are looking for series with fun and exciting sci-fi special effects and thrilling episodes with loads of action and drama then this series is not for you. This series could be described as a copy of the old series 'Murder, She Wrote' but with a "supernatural" being as the criminal. And by "supernatural" I mean that the person who did the crime usually did not know about the "power" they had and it was like: 'Oh, did I do that... Sorry'. I have watched six episodes now and I'm bored.. to calm and non exiting for me. I don't know how good the special effects is in this series since I have not seen any yet... The actors and script seems fine and there is an interesting backstory too but you only get hints of it now and then and not in every episode. In fact I stayed with the series for six episodes due to I wanted to know more about the backstory but I don't know if we ever will get the answers to the questions the main character have.
