Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Gutsycurene
Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Hadrina
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

My relationship with Picasso has always been static. Looking at one of his art pieces in a quiet museum. This series did a good job of giving me a better understand him as a man. Sure he was a genius but he had problems like everyone else. Money, career, and women. The series starts off fast as this ambitious young man wants to take on the world. It slows down as he tries to manage the complexity of his relationships with women. It was an inter struggle to be dedicated to his art or give of himself to the people around him. Antonio Banderas does an over the top portrayal. Overall a good cliff notes version of this complex artist. Dr. Wilson Trivino

As soon as I heard the initial words sprung from the irritating mouth of actress Samantha Colley who plays Dora Maar, Pablos Picasso's muse I realized that the producers of both biographies Einstein, and of Pablo Picasso were more concerned about production budgets than portraying realistic biographies of these two famous and influential men. Samantha Colley's accent and dialect were exactly the same playing two disparate women. Could the producers not have afforded having two different women play these two integral parts representing two different famous people, one being a Jew and the other a Spaniard? Heck, maybe the producers could have saved even more money if they simply had Geoffrey Rush play both the elder Einstein and Pablo Picasso.I half enjoyed the biography Einstein, bu Colley's portrayal of Eisnstein' wife and mother of his two sons, Mileva Maric was abysmal. She couldn't even get a invalid walk right, let alone play a brilliant scientist and jealous wife. Then when I listened to her first attempt to talk in a spanish dialect to Pablo Picasso it was like pricking a tightly helium filled balloon with a sharp hot needle and her same voice was a complete turn off to the second half of the series Genius. The producers had two solid actors in Geoffrey Rush (Einstein) and Antonio Banderas (Pablo Picasso) surely they could have afforded to provide a more credible supportive cast.

Genius Season1 revolves around the life of Albert Einstein. The key point to note here is 'life' of the genius - not about the theories of the Genius. It shows the human side of Einstein and throws light towards his life journey - his hardships, his love, his happiness and his sorrow. If you are looking to get the understanding on how Einstein came up with E=MC2 and other of his great discoveries, this is not for you. But if you would like to understand and get to know Einstein as a living being, this series is a must watch. All the actors acted quite remarkably. The background score could have been better and there are times in the series when you feel that things are going too slow and then there are parts where you would be like- 'did I miss something'.
Overall, a good series to watch

A great insight to the man. I've been reading these negative reviews and they are terribly misguided. Yes there is some modern Hollywood bait to lure in the casual viewer but the acting is superb all round and stands as a terrific drama. Einstein was more than his scientific accomplishments and to be frank This is a story! Not a documentary film or educational series. It was not designed to educate the viewer in relativity, it was designed to show us the world he lived through and the challenges he faced. That is far more captivating. All the "smart people" who are disturbed by the lack of science and sex (oh my I can't bear to see people simulating a natural act) get your heads out of your asses. It was shot beautifully, written superbly and touches on more intellectual subjects than we can usually expect from a television drama. It is a fantastic vehicle to introduce scientific ideas to people who perhaps wouldn't look into otherwise and also reminds us of why certain attitudes should be left in the past. It's educational indeed, just not in the way you thought.
