Reviews

Sexyloutak Absolutely the worst movie.
Aiden Melton The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
talstud A beautiful use of the imaginative creations of one of the all time loved writes. Excellent writing and classic humor. Just when you think things get any weirder they do, but in the end it's all connected.
cohenmitch This series popped up on Hulu recently, and I had to give it a try after seeing that Elijah Wood was in the cast. My first thought when I started watching was this seemed a bit like Dr. Who but even wackier. I admit I didn't have a clue at first that this was written by the same author as Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and some of the Dr. Who episodes. After reading about the series, I said, Aha!! Everything is connected, and I understand now, since the books were written by Douglas Adams. I am really glad I stuck with it. Elijah Wood was a big part of why I stuck with it at first though. But I enjoyed many aspects of the series including the many interesting characters. I was intrigued with Amanda (Elijah's sister) and the Rowdy 3 (who were actually 4+). When the Rowdy 3 threw a brick through Amanda's window that had a note that said "Hi", I was hooked again. Then there is the holistic assassin character and so many others that hooked me again and again. To say the plot was bizarre is an understatement, but I just enjoyed riding along with my favorite characters to see what happened next and what was next in their personal stories. I was excited to see Alan Tudyk pop up in season 2. He was in the cast of Firefly, which was another great character driven unusual series that I enjoyed. I was sad that season 2 would be the last. I will say though that they neatly wrapped up almost everything at the end of season 2 and just left a few possibilities hanging out there. I read that the audience wasn't large enough to continue. I admit I look for unusual and interesting character driven shows. I wish more out there did, so these types of shows could get a larger audience. This one definitely was a fun binge ride on Hulu.
SnoopyStyle Todd Brotzman (Elijah Wood) is a mild-mannered bellhop in Seattle. Strange things start to happen and he gets fired. Holistic detective Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett) breaks into his apartment and assumes him to be his assistant. Dirk is searching for missing Lydia Spring. Lydia's father Patrick is reported murdered. His bodyguard Farah Black (Jade Eshete) was taken prisoner in Todd's apartment building. Todd's sister Amanda (Hannah Marks) is debilitated by the affliction of painfully real hallucinations. She finds herself pursued by the Rowdy 3 in their scary van. Bart Curlish (Fiona Dourif) is a holistic assassin. She takes Ken (Mpho Koaho) along for the ride. There is Gordon Rimmer who apparently has Lydia and a dog. Zimmerfield and Estevez are missing persons police detectives. Col. Scott Riggins leads the government's secret Project Black Wing with his idiotic sidekick Sgt. Friedkin. There are machines, spirit shark, and everything is connected. The second season has the gang arriving in the town of Bergsberg, Montana and a fantasy land called Wendimoor. Tired housewife Suzie Boreton (Amanda Walsh) finds a magic wand after a massacre. The first season has some confusing fun as the convoluted story unfolds. I can't say that I followed everything but I followed enough to stay interested. It's an ambitious take on Douglas Adams' crazy character from the wacky mind of Max Landis. There is plenty of fun chemistry between Barnett and Wood. I find the characters intriguing. After some time later, I started the second season and I'm all confused. In the intervening time, I've lost the thread of the story and the characters. It's such a crazy show. BBC America canceled the show after the airing of the second season. I highly suggest binging the series which makes the show easier to follow. There is weird fun to be had. Wendimoor is a bit childish and lacks the bigger fantasy look which is fine because it fits the story. This is one confusing, wacky, maddening series. It's good that the characters are compelling and it's fun enough to be interesting.
frieda_werstiuk I love this show!! Have watched & rewatched both seasons twice now. So it isn't true that it hasn't been cancelled? How will I know what happens next!!??
