While often considered the worse of the two, I feel that American Dad is far superior to it's overly crude predecessor, and delivers a fun mix of over-the-top humor and gags, as well as characters that are relatable and have moments of redemption in *almost* every episode. If you're a fan of Family Guy, American Dad is definitely your next stop

danieln-15525 Better script smarter writing - episodes with more twists higher humor - and not cheap like Family Guy AND mostly - the jokes are related to the plot. Unlike Family Guy with dumb "flashback jokes" that got nothing to do with the plot. A kid can write their jokes.The only reason this show didn't win an Emmy, and the talentless Family Guy won a few, is that this show is not lefitst, and Family Guy is leftist.That's all.

elijahleetemple Unlike family guy all all characters are likable if not lovable in this cartoon, the humor is less gross (only by family guy stats) and the jokes are just better, less cringe worthly. You do need to give it a fair chance like family guy America dad has amazing epsoides and not so amazing ones, but is still funny or makes you think. Patrick stewert has is the voice of stans boss at the CIA which is pretty cool and is seen of abit of a nut. It does seem like at least for right the moment more thought is going into American dad plots and jokes and family guy humor is just whatever we are popular it doesn't matter. The rating of 10 is kinda high but i think it fights the insanely low scores from people who didn't give it a chance.

Connor Simmons At first glance this show may look like a dodgy Family Guy copy but with different characters but it is far from that. American Dad focuses more on political humor and jokes that never fall flat. In a way it is Seth McFarlanes' Futurama. By this I mean its a show made by him that looks like his other show but has a completely different vibe. Fans of Family Guy constantly hate on this show because it has a different style of humour and tone. It still has curses, crude humor, violence and sexual references like Family Guy but focuses on making fun of political situations and current events. I say definitely check out American Dad if you want a nice satisfying half an hour of comedy. It is well worth watching.
