Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
Bergorks If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
Casey Duggan It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
Michael Ledo Zombie movies follow a basic formula because they are metaphoric of life. A group of people with brains seek out a safe utopian world free from the unthinking zombies who blindly follow the crowd trying to kill the idealists. There are 2 types of zombies. There are the foot dragging raised from the dead zombies and the faster moving viral zombies. In this regard, the film has met the basic requirements for a decent zombie film.A group of survivors are headed toward the island of Catalina. Some die along the way. Some are added along the way as in any good zombie film. Why they choose to venture on foot rather than drive a heavily shielded vehicle, I don't know. The special effects were inexpensive CG critters, fires, and blood squirts. In these types of films it is the characters and dialouge that make the production stand out from other low budget movies. In that regard, this one failed to stand out. Ving Rhames needed a personality. Lesley-Ann Brandt had dead deliveries and wore jeans that never got dirty. Like John Wayne movies, multiple zombies die when one bullet is fired. The other film that goes by this name is far worse.Parental Guide: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity
bdhancock8 This movie is terrible. I've rated hundreds upon hundreds of movies on IMDb and written biographical info for actors, characters, directors, etc. On SyFy, I expect campy movies along the lines of Sharknado or Roboshark. It's hard to get a real robot shark or to spawn a tornado full of sharks but zombies are pretty easy to create. The bar has been set high with The Walking Dead and with World War Z as far as makeup and effects. This movie could have been made by a group of audio/visual high schoolers. It's horrible. I hate to call movies horrible, but this one is by far one of the worst zombie movies ever made. From Cassie's sword never getting bloodied, no matter how many zombies she kills to the .50 machine gun firing with no ammo feeding into it to the atrociously CGI created fake blood. This movie is just one mistake after another and the acting is terrible. For a cast of semi-talented actors to tank this bad, means the writer, director, producers and FX guys were talentless. I was expecting "campy" and bad but not so bad that I'd shiver at thought of ever watching it again. The movie has absolutely no redeeming qualities. If I had Olivia Wilde walk up to me butt naked, carrying a pint of Guinness in one hand and this movie in the other hand, I'd kick her out of my house. It's worse than eating the decomposed ass out of a dead zombie cow.
devastationyay -If your going to make a zombie movie, at least put some stock into your special effects and makeup teams. If the film is going to have a generic plot with wooden acting, at least give us some good eye candy instead of the horrible CGI crap that is rampant in this movie.-I see a lot of people comparing this to the Walking Dead, and while I will agree this movie does have a guy good at archery and the "coincidental" name drop of that guy "Kirkman", comparing this mess to the Walking Dead is a travesty and just flat out dumb. Read the comics and you will realize how creating a character works, and it translates well to the show.-The Walking Dead has very complex character development, it is very believable of how people would react and change in that kind of crazy situation. This movie doesn't even have a fraction of that. The characters are blocky and don't seem to be affected by events that should shatter them.-Ramona and Billy are some of the most irritating characters maybe ever.-Too much CGI, bad CGI.-I love the zombie genre so I figured why not, I wish i hadnt.STOP COMPARING THIS TO THE WALKING DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edwjoolee This movie was pretty bad. One of my favorite movies of all time is the original Dawn of the Dead. And one of my favorite directors of all time happens to be George A. Romero.I have noticed a revival of sorts of zombie themed movies in the last decade or so. I guess the most recent wave started with 28 Days Later and the Dawn of the Dead remake. In their wake, I have noticed a lot of badly made zombie films trying to cash in on their popularity.Zombie Apocalypse is bad. It sort of reminds me of the badly made Italian zombie films from the 80's: rambling plot progression, poorly written script and characters, badly made up zombies and poor special effects. Only thing that differentiates this film from those Italian films is that the characters here speak English and are not dubbed. At least the Italian films' poorly dubbed dialogue provided amusement and unintentional humor to them, making them somewhat watchable at least. Unfortunately, Zombie Apocalypse has neither the camp factor nor the unintentional humor to make it watchable in any way.But the true sad part is this: What the heck is Ving Rhames doing in this movie? I am beginning to notice him more in a lot of badly made straight-to-video films in recent years. I understand that he has bills to pay and family to feed, but please don't completely throw away your artistic integrity for a quick buck. Come on.I am giving this film a 4 out of 10, because it is a zombie film.
