sherry_mu As jason is the hero , so many of us waiting and expecting for an action from the beggining but its a crime drama based action movie.movie is very slow in the start , lot of conversations till 35 mints.overall it is one time watch movie and jason fans will not disappoint with action and fight scenes in the middle and at the end.............
adonis98-743-186503 When a Las Vegas bodyguard with lethal skills and a gambling problem gets in trouble with the mob, he has one last play...and it's all or nothing. Wild Card might not be as bad as many might think but it's one of Statham's most forgettable films and even tho the Cast looks promising and does deliver in certain parts and the limited action is great the film feels conflicted threw a mediocre script that goes from fight scenes, to humor to poker and back again. Plus some actors like Tucci and Vergara get limited screen time which is bad because good talent gets wasted and overall the movie drags at times as well which makes it hard to sit threw the whole damn thing. Overall Wild Card has some great limited fight sequences, a great cast and Statham who is great as he is always but the end result is a forgettable Simon West Action Flick that didn't live up to expectations plus the man made Con-Air and The Expendables 2 so there's no excuse for this movie to be mediocre. (6/10)
schuster_mark For anyone who likes Jason Statham, this is a must see. Nothing really new here, but what Statham does - he does well. As long as the story/plot doesn't suck horribly in the movies he does, he always delivers. It's amazing just how many movies this guy does - and consistently provides a performance that's pleasing. Not in a Richard Burton kind of way, but in a "Jason Statham" kind of way. He's unique in a genre that's "been there and done that". That's saying a lot! Simply put - Statham is fun to watch for a couple hours. Anybody who appreciates his films are not looking for a deeper understanding of life. They want action, revenge - and a great story that includes both! Beyond all the usual elements present in a Statham movie, this movie has a couple nice twists that had a bit of color to the overall story. These twists help make it that much more enjoyable. And what's interesting is that these twists (one being the kooky millionaire kid) would really seem stupid if done with anybody but Statham. The guy just oozes COOL.If you like Jason Statham you'll enjoy this movie. He delivers on all cylinders - and there's a nice back-story to accompany. Well worth the 100 minutes or so of film.
jtindahouse 'Wild Card' is a fun ride. It's about as disjointed and unfocused as you'll ever see a modern film, but it's fun nonetheless. Jason Statham carries the movie. We follow him from start to finish and it's simply a pleasure. I don't know what it is about the guy, he's just a very likable actor to watch. He's an action star through and through (you'll never see him being nominated for an Academy Award, at least not for acting) and he just does what he does very well. Is he alone enough to make a film watchable? I'd say so, yes.The action scenes are well directed, for the most part, and the story, while a bit all over the place, is never dull. The question that keeps coming to mind is what is the point? Generally movies like this have a central plot-point that the whole thing revolves around, but in this there are little plot pieces all over the place. Perhaps this was just an attempt to show Statham's character in many different lights. Afterall, I'd watch another movie about this guy. If you're willing to not over-analyse, I think you'll enjoy the film.
