Dorathen Better Late Then Never
Hattie I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Jakoba True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
kushina3 The first half is nice and watchable, but the second part of the movie was a disappointment for me. In that part many things are happening very fast and in chaos, and it just gets stupid. On top of that it is a very slow movie, predictable, and not very special in any way.
tbills2 As calm, as slow-moving as VftS starts off, like a deaf, mute, nonspeaking tortoise who can't hear the starting pistol bang at the start of the race, plus he's asleep, it soothes one easing into the viewing not generating too much pressure anyway to rush into particular happenings creating a softened gritty yet comforting feeling atmosphere. Emilia's excellent for the view. I love Emilia/Daenerys as I love GoT. Emilia is now on the fast-paced track to superstardom, like a speedy, living rabbit set to win the race, aside that miserable Terminator entry, as she is becoming one of the most coveted and most beautiful young starlets, and one of my favorites too. She's so hot, like unbelievably. Emilia's so stoic onscreen, similar to a young Madeleine Stowe in my opinion. Voice from the Stone is so slow at times dude, but not so bad that it disgraces the quality of the content, it's just a little boring through stretches like, c'mon, and Marton Csokas' good, but this haunting tale isn't all that haunting, though VftS is very well made with solid direction and near-impressive cinematography and its very moving performance by Clarke, moving unlike its speed. VftS picks up the pace a bit as Emilia undresses her clothes, showing us her blessed back and rack, but it's back to the normal rate in no time, which's too slow, like a slug. Emilia's so gorgeous and such a good actress. VftS is good; the ending is similar to the nudity, a bit unexpected but I do really love everything about this movie and I'm definitely going to purchase it on Blu-ray.(I could make and film this in a week and also in Emilia's version of The Tortoise and the Hare, TTatH, the speedy rabbit wins.)
Jeffrey Burton This is an old school Gothic, slow burn, ghost story in the style of 'The Innocents'. This movie is beautifully shot and the directing has a very confident hand. It's hard to believe both the Director and cinematographer are relatively inexperienced. Director, Eric D. Howell has the majority of his credits as a stuntman and the DP, Peter Simonite's are mostly in the production dept. The movie isn't as well written or executed as 'The Innocents' but it definitely deserves a better rating than what it's getting here. It's a very ambitious movie and while it does fall somewhat short, I would rather see a movie that aspires to be something more, than the brain-numbing, Michael Bay type, cineplex fodder that gets pumped out, today. There are some scenes that look like a work of art. The atmosphere is very rich and while the movie doesn't quite satisfy it's still engaging once you get used to the pace. I recommend this movie for what it tries to be more than for what it achieves. If you are fan of Gothic stories that may (or may not) have some supernatural elements then give this movie a try.
Prismark10 Set in 1950s Tuscany this is an insipid Gothic drama. Verena (Emilia Clarke) is a timid governess hired by sculptor Klaus (Marton Csokas) to deal with his son Jakob who has not spoken since his mother Malvina (Caterina Munro) died some months earlier.Verena's tries to get through to Jakob but Verena is convinced that Malvina's spirit somehow lives on and is trying to get through to Jakob though the walls of the castle.Klaus comes across as a bit of brute, emotionally damaged himself who seduces Verena who is willing to pose for the sculptor in the nude. The film is atmospheric but due to pacing problems rather inert.
