ShangLuda Admirable film.
Matrixiole Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
Taz K I think this movie was great, I don't watch Indian movies in general but I saw this on TV and it was dubbed in another language. It caught my attention as I am very fond of costume dramas, it reminded me a little of Troy. I eventually got the movie and watched it. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.The movie was amazing even with the plot holes and inaccuracies. I love Salman's character, the tough love, strong roots and confidence. If nothing else it gives hope, even through fiction. I don't think the movie was written as a historical masterpiece or to be accurate but set in colonial times to give it realism. Salman has taken fact and fiction and written a story which is easy enough to relate with. I think it's a good effort, and hope to see more movies like this from Indian cinema. The ending leaves behind a sadness but in some ways it is perfect.
Ganesh Salian (salianmoviereview) Veer directed by Anil Sharma is painful watch.High Budget, lavish production values and great stars do not make an movie super-hit,but it is the story which unfortunately Veer does not have. The story written by Salman Khan is childish. The screenplay is bad.Performances-Salman Khan and Mithun Chakraborty save the movie from going downhill.Salman Khan as always is excellent.Mithun Chakraborty is superb.Sohail Khan irritates.Zarine Khan is no Katrina Kaif. Her acting is bad.Jackie Shroff hams.On the whole,Veer is sheer disappointment.
MovieInspector This film focuses on British rule in India and British alliances with Indian royalty. I'll start of with the performances. Salman Khan does his bit with typical macho swagger - his role is perfect for him. Newcomer Zarine Khan is good in her role, but I think that she could do a little better should she get a role allowing her to do so in the future. Mithun Chakraborty is good along with Sohail Khan in supporting roles, as is Jackie Shroff in his negative role. The story of the film is good and Salman Khan deserves credit for writing it. The story keeps you engaged and you may feel an unusual feeling once it is finished since you were absorbed in the goings on in the movie for just over 2 hours and a half. The music is great. Sajid-Wajid have done a great job. The two tracks that stand out are 'salaam aaya' and 'taali'. The action is also great.Overall: definitely watch it. I give it 8/10.
btermorshuizen Veer is the worst movie of this decade. Maybe it's too soon to tell. Maybe not.The only aspect of this movie better than awful is the cinematography. All the rest is below awful. Salman Khan - the guy playing Veer - has a 'wide' range of facial expressions: it's either romantic or angry. His lip-sync performance in the songs is silly (why bother in the first place?). The story is very bad - no drama, flat characters, no surprises that you care about, lot's of stuff happening for no reason, silly humor etc.I could go on and on. But I'm sure it's clear I didn't like it. One bit. I understand that some people in Jaipur didn't like it either. Supposedly because the film twisted facts. My guess is that they wanted their money back.
