Synopsis

Legend has it that the human race is not the only dominant civilization living on Earth. Two other races exist in this world: the Makai (a demon race) and the Jujinkai (a half-man, half-beast race). Once every 3,000 years, a supreme being known as the "Choujin" (Overfiend) will emerge and bring balance to all three realms on Earth. In present-day Japan, after 300 years of endless searching, a Jujinkai named Amano Jyaku has discovered the presence of the Choujin inside high school slacker Tatsuo Nagumo. But now, Amano, along with his sister Megumi and their sidekick Kuroko must protect Nagumo and his new girlfriend Akemi Ito from the Makai, who believe that Nagumo is not the Choujin, but an evil entity bent on destroying all living beings on Earth. Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend was originally released as a 3 episode OVA series from January 21, 1987 to April 10, 1989 but was later re-release as a compilation film on March 18, 1989.

JinRoz For all the hype it got I was expecting a lot more!
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Bergorks If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Darth-Helmet According to a legend, every 3000 years a powerful demon god named Chojin will unite the three worlds of humans, demons and man-beasts together for a new reborn world. A half-beast young man named Amano searches in Tokyo for the one who will be possessed by the Chojin as he fights various demons in his way but is this god wonderful or a pure devil? A complex and over-the-top Japanese animated erotic horror fantasy from the notorious Toshio Maeda is one of the most controversial and infamous animated movies of all time. It paved way for pornographic animated movies from Japan since then as it really began in 1985 as a graphic adults only hentai manga and an OAV that started as a serial from 1986 to 1988 then in 1989 it was turned into one major movie all together. Some people blamed this as a movie that gave anime a bad name but i don't think so since this is different and strictly for adults only earning it's NC-17 rating here in the US.This is a graphic and surprisingly effective piece of animation showing excess like graphic sex, rape, grotesque transformations, gore, bisexuality, lesbianism, mutilation, eye ripping, masturbation and all that kind of stuff. I like how this movie is like HP Lovecraft meets Penthouse as this movie since the 90's in it's theatrical release has shocked audiences everywhere.Definitely not for everyone but worth a look for those willing to see such a horrifying and gory animated feature that goes into the mind of madness.
a05102267 Just like "Violence Jack" all the hype surrounding this movie is about the shock value, but deep inside this movie isn't very good or interesting. It is the kind of movie that wants to be "edgy" or "extreme" but fails in the characterization, uses a muddled and incoherent plot and one-dimensional characters.(All the women are defenseless victims or sex-starved harpies and things like that.) Now you could say that " it is a porn movie, who cares about character development", maybe, but I think that "Urostsokidoji" is just the example of why people that hates anime says things like the fans are going to love anything that came form Japan if it have lots of mindless violence, naked girls with big breasts being raped and whining . I only have seen the edited version, so I guess that the original would be less confusing and muddled (or maybe not)As movies go, the art of this one isn't the best. It would have been acceptable as an OAV (which originally was before editing) since the art and animation is decent, if not great. It's an old title, and it shows. Tentacle rape? No thanks.
DVD_Connoisseur "Urotsukidoji - Legend of the Overfiend" is quite groundbreaking in its delivery of content. As an animated manga production, the film is a mix of teen angst, humour, horror and sexual scenes. At times, the film is visually breathtaking - although I found the standard of animation occasionally slipped, unlike the always-consistent "Akira".The plot of "Urotsukidoji" is difficult to explain in brief but the basic premise is that Demons have started to invade the Earth causing havoc in the form of depraved attacks. Two characters from the Beast World have come to try and put things right by finding The Overfiend. Hopefully, by locating The Overfiend, peace may be found. Failure will mean the end of the Earth....The "Urotsukidoji" ("Wandering Kid") series are love-'em or hate-'em affairs. They contain excessive sex and violence (and usually violent sex) and may offend viewers. Certainly, these animated movies are a far cry from political correctness! The style of manga featured in this production is known as Hentai - this loosely translated is cartoon pornography. As a result, there are a number of sexual scenes which appear in the film and most of the characters involved meet a sticky end (and not the usual kind!).To see the film in its uncut glory, you need to catch the now deleted "Urotsukidoji: Perfect Collection" DVD set. This contains the first movie in its complete form and with subtitles rather than horrible dubbing. Contained within the 2 disc set is also the rather good sequel, the tastefully named "Legend of the Demon Womb".If you like your horror adventurous, bloody and taboo-breaking, "Urotsukidoji" is the animated feature for you!
M0KUJIN This movie is prevalent with scene's of extreme sex and sadistic violence. Women / Girls are repeatedly raped through every orifice by what appear to be huge tentacle penises, causing their body to violently erupt into bloody pieces. Penises that are miles long and fire a constant stream of projectile semen more powerful than the atomic bomb dropped on Japan during WWII. Creatures with more penises than fingers. Slashing, dicing, ripping, beating, decapitation and raping of women / girls. This is NOT animated afternoon fun for the children, or even adults with any morals. To sit through this amazing animated adventure, and the others in the series, one must throw any sense of morality outta the window.... From the opening credits with the picture of a red-skinned demons, every muscle group shaded, doing what you might imagine demons to do with an ominous narration about the legend of the Overfiend (also known as the CHOJIN) and the collapse of the three worlds in the background, the story is completely entertaining. These opening credits also serve as a good warning as to the adult content of the rest of the movie - if you are already feeling queasy or covering your eyes, I recommend you avoid anything in this genre. The characters are fully developed throughout the film, changing over time as one might expect with the sudden addition of paranormal forces into their ordinary lives. It is a story of love, war, desperation, misunderstanding and ultimately change, following the lives of children becoming adults in a world where demons, super-humans and gods can interact with humans on a very intimate level. In the beginning of the actual story, a sharp contrast is drawn between the demon world experienced in the prologue and the brightly lit world of the humans. Nagumo is a silly pubescent Japanese high school kid, whom enjoys peeping into the female locker room, obsessed with the girls in his school and enamored by a beautiful Japanese cheerleader named Akemi. Akemi is a carefree, smiling girl-next-door in these opening scenes, when she is summoned in for a conference with a teacher, the true horror begins. The teacher, a Ms. Togami, turns out to be a Makai, a demon from one of the three realms explained in the opening narrative. This is the audiences first introduction to Amano Jyaku, the 300 year old anti-hero from the world of the Jyujin-kai, or "man-beasts", battling the now demonic - Ms. Togami. From here the story takes off as Amano Jyaku and his sister Megumi search for the Chojin, each following a different character. Nagumo is Megumi's pick, although he seems a small and weak introvert compared to the star basketball player Ozaki (his complete opposite), whom Amano is convinced is the true Chojin, an thus decides to pursue. The story follows the lives of the characters, and although there are strong scenes of extreme violence and rape, none are excessive or distracting from the plot. The violence that surrounds the characters is what drives them, it is the force that promotes the changes necessary to live in the ever changing world of the story itself. A lot would be lost to this story were the violence to be removed or even toned down. However, keep in mind, that it is strongly present before watching this movie, or showing it to others. To tell any more of the plot would reveal entirely too much of the story. Much of the enjoyment is following Amano and Megumi on their 300 year closing quest for the all powerful Chojin, a search which leads them to a shockingly unexpected conclusion. If you can forgive the English dubbing (I recommend watching this with subtitles if you can locate the uncut PERFECT COLLECTION DVD), it's a classic piece of Japanese animation. Not for the faint hearted or easily offended....or those of a nervous disposition.
