Alicia I love this movie so much
Comwayon A Disappointing Continuation
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
CobraLOrd0 I'm debating right now in my head which movie was better, this one or Universal Soldier 2, The Return. Objectively speaking as a movie this one is better, but if we put the Universal Soldier in the equation then Universal Soldier the Return is a better Universal Soldier movie and not because it has JVCD, but because it is in the Universal Soldier universe. This one is nothing like Universal Soldier. There are not even Universal Soldier inspired tunes, theme songs! Acting is hardly bearable. The girl wears a frightened + sexy expression in almost every single scene, so as to appear cute. JVCD and Lundgren appear for ~5 minutes in the entire movie combined!! Gunplay is probably the worst EVER i have seen in a movie. It is comical, it seriously resembles The Naked Gun movies where Nielsen and the enemy were shooting at each other from a 3 meter range (there is a take in this film between protagonist and Lundren where this is EXACTLY what happens and even worse now that i think of it). Cinematography that will make you cry, with a plethora of scenes that will certainly give you seizures (i was covering my eyes for about 3 minutes of the entire film). The story is ridiculous, makes barely any sense, not that the plot ever stops to focus a bit on dialogue and to what's going on. The movie is utterly semi-devoid of dialogue. Scene after scene depicts either memories or brutal, sadomazochistic violence. The violence in this movie is over the top, just a little below Sin City. The only good aspect was the choreography, i really liked the fighter guy (Andrei Arlovski) that hunts the protagonist to kill him, he had some nice moves. Fighting feels brutal and authentic, you think it's real, but it's a trap, it's so fake. Yet, still there are some nice fights that keep you from getting bored. The rest of the movie is plain boring. Even some special effects and cgi are poorly made. I cannot believe how the critics gave an aggregate rating of 58/100! WARNING: This isn't a universal Soldier movie by any stretch of the imagination! Rating: 3/10 - Bad - For choreography & bearable acting. This movie will pretty much only appeal to sadistically loving violence fans.
aidancramsay Honestly, it's pretty astonishing that this movie exists; it's the sort of project that could only have been brought into being via complete studio indifference to a franchise that probably should have died almost two decades ago. It's almost comically brutal, frequently surreal, and far, far more pretentious and high-minded than a movie called Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning has any right being. It's an art-horror movie hiding underneath the skin of action trash, and thinking of all the meathead bros who got tricked into watching what can best be described as what would happen if Gaspar Noe remade Apocalypse Now warms the cockles of my withered heart.Maybe I'm overselling this. Universial Soldier: Day of Reckoning isn't quite as deep or clever as it thinks it is, but it WORKS. It's hypnotic and frequently mesmerizing in spite of its flaws, and the action scenes contain some of the best fight choreography you'll see in a modern American action movie. It's not a great movie, but it's damn good, and worth watching if just for what a gutsy move it was to make a late-in- the-game DTV sequel to a trashy movie no one really cares about as genuinely affecting and ambitious as this.
Finfrosk86 First let me say: 5 is way to low for this movie. Have people not seen really bad movies? OK.I'm not quite sure how I stumbled upon this action gem.. I guess I was intrigued by Scott Adkins, plus van Damme and Lundgren reprising their roles in this long going franchise. Anyway, I started watching and didn't know if it would be good or not, until the first real action sequence. Oh man, it is really brutal. Like gunshot-wounds-on-bare-skin-brutal. Sets the tone. I like me some brutal action and fighting, and man did I come to the right place! The movie itself is a little weird. Among the weirdness is a epilepsy- inducing light-show which I actually closed my eyes for a couple of times, to not be hypnotized or brain-fried or whatever. Intense. Anyway, as I said, the movie, the plot, is not super awesome, it has it's good parts, but in the action department is where this movie shines. The action in this movie is absolutely top notch. The fighting is incredible. It is _so_ brutal! Easy to follow, very well choreographed, and as I said, a little extra brutal. (sorry for saying brutal so much, I guess it's my word of the day)Any fan of brutal, bloody, hard hitting fighting, will definitely get their fix here. It also has this long uncut (at least seems uncut) action scene with a lot of killing, and it is simply beautiful. The rating for this is totally stupid, 5? What? This has hands down, some of the best action this decade. (so far)
pcdoctor-1 I agree with the previous reviewer...The fighting scenes were so lame, like if they were made by ghetto men, the story is very unclear and controversial, the bloody massacre scenes were more of a horror movie. What a disappointment for us, Scott Adkins fans...This is the worst action movie I have ever seen, out of hundreds, I mean it! The whole emotion one gets from the movie is deep depression. This government blah-blah propaganda is too much and too old for now, you can see it in many movies...The first movie had a reason, had something to interest a lot of people, and this one? Ruins everything ! ! ! It is not even worthy of writing about it...
