Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Madilyn Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
Delight Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
Billy Jason The fun of this movie is figuring out the what's going on. You should flesh out the major plot points in the first 20 minutes and then movie is a passive experience. There are some stunning visuals that impact you viscerally. It's about the development of empathy and watching her develop it thru experience and observation. It's also kind of silly to have on of the most beautiful women in the world struggling to pick up men for one night stands. She's without any charisma. Anyone could have played this role. It's mindbogglingly boring and thematically redundant.
opossumsarefurreal The worst part about the movie, isn't the incredibly slow scenes.. where you are shouting at the film "OKAY I GET IT!! MOVE ON!!" It's that you WANT to watch the actual movie!! It's like you're waiting on the film to start and it never truly does. Instead you are stuck staring at clouds and listening to piano music. Is the music pretty? Yes. But am I watching this film FOR the music? No. I want to see some aliens. I want to see more of the story. I don't need bombs exploding to get my attention, but I DO need more than the same scene repeated over and over.. and over.. and over. I mean- essentially we just stare at ScarJo's body and face the entire time with no real progression to the story line. That's not a problem, because she is beautiful.. right? It's really low hanging fruit to just have naked people in a movie for the sake of having naked people in a movie. I assume anyone watching this movie and "LOVING" it.. just really loves to see some boobies/booties and everything in between. And everyone else is trying to just be as pretentious as the director. I have seen art in movies.. and real, *moving* music paired with really emotional scenes. This was just.. so boring. So .. so boring. I found myself wanting to open my tablet and check my email.. go make another coffee. It could not hold my attention and I usually love indie films. This one just did not do it for me.
gmgreta-82371 This movie reminds me of garbage on a canvas--abstract art-- that some will rave about, but the majority of intelligent people actually know to be just garbage. Just because its different does not mean its good.
Brandon Veracka I've watched scores of Scandinavian films where there is nothing more than silence and people going about their business, and all in one continuous, still shot. I actually enjoyed many of those films. However, there is no concept built by the multitude of scenes which have no dialogue or "action" in them. This left me constantly asking myself questions that I shouldn't have to ask if I'm paying attention (and I was); questions such as, "Why is she doing what she's doing?", "What is the purpose of what she is doing?" and "How does any of this serve the loose plot?". By the time the credits rolled, I was left feeling like I'd watched a nearly two-hour-long intro to what could've been an excellent film. While it's not one- and two-star trash that so many morons rated it, on the other hand, it leaves a lot (and I do mean a lot) to be desired. Great cinematography, very good soundtrack and sound production, and great overall production quality, but in the end, it just wasn't entertaining.
