jackvictore I like this one! It really has that authentic 70s style. From the costume design to the color scheme. Its feels like a Halloween haunted house, 5 dollars at the door. Only this Halloween house might be the last you'll ever visit, and it ain't Halloween! The girls are 70s sexy! I have a crush on all of them. May they rest in peace. To be stranded in the middle of nowhere gas station/bar/mechanical theme park and, wouldn't you know it, the phone doesn't work! Come to find out this man has a thing for lifelike manikins! These aren't your average herberger's display models! I give this movie 5 bags of popcorn in mustard and brown striped bags! For an authentic experience watch this film in an abandoned gas station!

TheBlueHairedLawyer Tourist Trap is a lot like American Gothic (1988) and The Funhouse (1981). It's one of those horror movies you come across when browsing youtube and I really liked it; it's one of those cheesy 80's horror films with some good acting, funny props, a weird storyline and a creepy killer in a secluded place. Tourist Trap adds in elements of sci-fi as well though... the killer has telekinetic powers and his only friends appear to be his countless dolls and mannequins.Tourist Trap is a great movie to check out if you're a horror fan. The soundtrack is kinda funny, kinda creepy, all at once. The acting was decent despite its low budget and the effects were cheesy and outdated but not too bad.

fedor8 Predictable every step of the way – including the moronic "it was him all along" plot-twist that evokes (bad) memories of "Psycho" and countless other similar rip-offs. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" plus mannequins and unexplained supernatural powers; so blatant is the ripping-off of TTCM that the villain has a strong, shameless resemblance to Leatherface. TT gives us a poor man's Leatherface though, complete with a boring, un-menacing voice that drones on and on, never saying anything remotely original or interesting. The occasional goofy Bugs Bunny music only serves as added weight in sinking this cheesy shipwreck of a disaster to even lower depth of B-movie turkeydom.It's hard to get into a movie that gives away almost everything only 20 minutes after its commencement. There isn't an inkling of a surprise plot-twist anywhere in sight. It's strictly by-the-numbers slasher bull, executed with very little imagination and zero effort.And zero brains. Leatherface drowns the blond – yet she inexplicably resurrects, and not as a mannequin. Nor are we offered a hint as to why only super-thin young women in their early 20s end up stuck on that remote road that leads to the movie's very dull "museum".The boyfriend predictably fails to capitalize on any of his laughable escape attempts, including a typical B-movie bonehead decision to leave the (predictably and typically indestructible) bad guy lying on the floor instead of finishing him off as any sane person in his place would do. These are the kinds of plot-devices incompetent, lazy and uninspired writers use all the time.The only offered explanation for his immense magical powers (with which he could realistically rule the world, not just some stupid remote backwoods alley) is that "he's crazy". I know hundreds of crazy people, yet not one of them has supernatural powers. Certainly no crazy people I know of have the ability to turn people into zombified mannequins.

LasKeepsItReal I remember seeing Tourist Trap for the first time about 25 years ago and as time has gone on have found much more appreciation for it.Expect my following review to contain many spoilers.The film begins with a young couple,Woody and Eileen when their car has broken down in the desert. Woody goes off alone while Eileen waits in the car, he goes to a nearby gas station looking for help. Something very out of the ordinary happens when he is attacked and killed by some type of telekinetic power which involves lots of objects being continuously thrown at him until one of them finishes him off.Eileen is eventually picked up by her friends Molly,Jerry and Becky and they go on a drive through the desert until their car breaks down, the ladies go for a swim in the nearby oasis where they meet a man called Mr Slausen who lives close by at a museum and can give them shelter while he helps to fix Jerry's jeep.Many weird and wonderful things are in the museum and while Mr Slausen warns the ladies not to go out in the dark its not long before Eileen disobeys his request and goes to a nearby house to make a phone call where his brother lives. She is strangled to death by a man wearing a mask who uses telekinetic powers.Back at the museum Becky and Molly are patiently waiting for Jerry and Mr Slausen to come back and then they both decide to look for Eileen, they come across the house where Eileen entered and after hearing laughing Becky breaks into the house alone, she is attacked by a masked man and knocked out by dummies when she tries to leave.Molly gets to know more about Mr Slausen and his wife who died years previously. Jerry is now missing and its not long before Molly finds herself in danger too as she discovers Mr Slausen has a crazy brother, she must now try to find her friends and survive.I did not want to give too much away about this film apart from some details of the events of the first half of the film. There is another woman named Tina who is introduced around the middle of the film after she has been kidnapped and meets a couple of the main characters, she is another character like Woody who could have been developed on a little more although like him her screen time is just as memorable and would make most viewers sympathetic with her outcome.There are some unique and creative aspects to the storyline with the way that the killer uses telekinesis and the dummies and mannequins becoming lifelike, there is a disturbing tone at times as well as suspense although not much horror. Fans of Tanya Roberts from the Charlie's Angels series will quickly recognize her as the character Becky. I was a little surprised when I heard the film originally got a PG-13 rating in America and was often shown on television in the afternoon, this was probably because there is no nudity and very little blood and violence in the film. Having said that after repeated showing the film found a following and to this day I have never seen another film like it. The film also has a bittersweet ending to it too when a surviving character is driven to the point to insanity although still manages to keep it together as well. If you are looking to see a much different type of horror film then go with this more thriller related on that I would thoroughly recommend.I would rate this film 7 out of 10.
