Arnie's not going to win awards for his acting for this, bit will he ever? This a return to what the big guy does best - toughing it out to take down a bad-ass. No over the top CGI or 20 minute unbelievable Jason Bourne choreograph sequences, and all the better for it. The old man comes back from his life of politics to the movies and proves that there's still no- one better at doing a good old fashioned action movie.

I wanted to review this movie because I believe it deserves a better rating than a 6.4. If I honestly rated it I believe it's something like a 7.5 ish based on what other movies are rated on this site. I thought this was a charming little movie, I thought Arnold was great in his character, his deputies were also well acted. It's totally a plot that's been done before but the simplicity and excellence of its execution were great. I thought the bad guy was a fun character and the car he gets away in was a really cool idea. i just really thought this movie deserves at least a 7 rating and I was really glad I gave this movie a shot, it made for a nice evening.

"The Last Stand" by Jee-woon Kim, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Johnny Knoxville and Forest Whittaker (both of the latter get rather little screen time) is a standard action movie which suffers from a weak screenplay, bad dialogues, bad choreographies, a forgettable soundtrack and way too cheesy one liners. There is no suspense but I didn't expect any watching an Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie which was obviously only meant to entertain and give the audience a few chuckles and over the top action. Sadly the movie fails to deliver both of these things. While the action might be over the top it doesn't excite the audience because the filming of these scenes was handled too standard and the fact that we don't really feel that the important characters, who are rather uninteresting anyway, cannot be touched or even really get hurt. So how are these scenes supposed to excite us if there is no real danger? There is a scene near the end of the movie which sums that up perfectly. Arnie gets a knife rammed deep into his leg but still manages to beat the bad guy and then walks like nothing has happened. No limping or anything. The movie feels like a corny eighties action flick, without its charm, mixed with weird and out of place "comedic" south korean cinema moments who fail to make one laugh but weaken an already below mediocre film. The only thing that this movie really got going is that it has got a few names in the cast you might recognize and Arnold Schwarzeneggers charm. This could have been much better, especially with a director like Jee-woon Kim who made some outstanding movies in the past (I Saw the Devil, A Bittersweet Life). I give this a 3/10.

Okay the first few minutes is kinda okay but after that it's just 100% pure crap of the worst script and dialogue you could ever imagine. I could take a few scenes first. You know the usual police is stupid BS. But after scene after scene of just awful lines and thoughts about ... really? Anyone wants people to actually believe this crap? No I could take about 25 minutes and then I just thought to myself nope I will not sit another minute with this they call a movie. It is too bad also. Because at the beginning the movie had potential. Arnolds character had some wisdom and we had Peter Stormare as the perfect bad guy. But no just no ! Don't even bother with this movie. Go ahead and just try writing a action movie by yourself instead. I promise it will be better than this awful thing they would call a movie. My respect dropped to 0% for everyone who were involved in this movie. Do yourself a favor and just stay clear of this one.
