GazerRise Fantastic!
Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Tayyab Torres Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
doxxman5 Making a good movie about the making of a horrible movie has got to be harder than it seems, and Franco does a great job of playing the title of character as a man who is passionate about his horrible ideas. IT is as good as Tim Burton's 1994 film Ed Wood, in that respect. On one level it proves that if someone has enough money they can get anything done, but on a deeper level the movie is about achieving ones dreams no matter what anyone else thinks. Franco's performance as a misunderstood artist resonates with us now and into the future.....for reasons he probably did not predict it would.
El-Dod James Franco performed Tommy wiseau so good and directed the movie well too. Dave Franco was not bad and The movie's story is so funny however not much comedy came out of it. Also the lack of the effect of the music of the movie could have made the scenes a lot more better and give them another whole better look. The movie's rhythm was boring a little bit too. The scenario was too fit for the characters. Only watch it to see James as Tommy. 6.5/10
baseballcrw Yes, the headline is cheesy. But dammit, if this movie doesn't inspire you at least a little, I think there's something wrong with you. Being a die-hard fan of 'The Room' (I was a little late to the party, to be honest), I actually was nervous about this film. James Franco-Seth Rogen types of movies are typically some sort of spoof or satire of whatever the central plot is, and although that is usually a treat, I was hoping they wouldn't take that approach with 'The Disaster Artist'. Well, I'm thanking my lucky stars that this film is incredibly heartfelt and surprisingly emotional at times. James Franco gives truly one of the best performances of his career (and that's saying a lot; he's one of the busiest actors of this generation) as Tommy Wiseau, a generally beloved figure in the film industry and one that Franco pulls off with ease. Although his real-life brother Dave Franco looks almost nothing like Greg Sestero, I still bought into his performance as a guy who just wants to pursue his dream of acting. There are plenty of cameos which was a treat, but they never take you out of the film, especially when you hear that most of them are true-to-life. One actor I feel is underrated in this movie is Josh Hutcherson as Danny (PERFECT casting), who steals all scenes he was in. In terms of issues with the film, it sometimes falls into tropes that many movies of this nature do. But the script, combined with excellent performances make this film feel totally different than anything I have seen recently. Now that it is On Demand, seek it out ASAP.
pcappadora After seeing "The Room" on YouTube I had a lot of trouble articulating what I saw. My best friend JJ Condon came home one day saying "PHIL turn on the TV, you have to see this film!" He tells me its called The Room and i replied "It's still in Theatres though isn't it?" Not that room, a different one. Like all of you i was left speechless. Now after seeing this phenomenon (Thank You Francos) I was reminded that it does take guts to be an Actor, no matter the costs when you make up your mind it takes commitment and Tom and Greg showed us that. I think everyone with an imdb acct who's an inspiring can learn from those two dudes. I learned the ultimate illusion in LIFE / AMERICA / EARTH is "success". When I was turning 14 my family and I went to Marci Gras and we got to stay on a Yaht for the weekend. I remember saying to the owner of the Yaht "I want to Succeed!" 17 years later I have succeeded but would you say I am successful? No. Because I don't have what you want. Tom and Greg , to me , are successful. They made a movie. From that came a Book which then became another movie. And I am a better person for knowing their story. Thank you James and Dave for telling their story. We needed to know the real them.
