Aubrey Hackett While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "La création des oiseaux" or "The Creation of Birds" is a 10-minute animated short film from almost 45 years ago written and directed by French-Canadian filmmaker Frédéric Back. He did not have any of his 2 Oscars when he made this one here. There is no dialogue in here, so you won't need subtitles, even if you don't speak French. I must say I am not the biggest fan of Back's style, but that is just personal preference. Sadly, the story/plot which sounds so interesting in the film's title is very forgettable in here. Early on, it looked a bit like Mowgli from the Jungle Book. So yeah, I did not have a particularly good time watching this one and I can see why it did not get any awards attention whatsoever. A forgettable 10 minutes. Not recommended.
