Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Spidersecu Don't Believe the Hype
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Caryl It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
angeergm Loved the storyline, sweet but not cheesy, not your standard teen drama, but offering a genuinely valuable insight into the fears and hopes that go through the minds of young people. It has the added interest of providing the rarely seen perspective of a deaf family. The French is very accessible, so I would recommend it for French learners at either A2 european level (onwards) or working towards their French GCSE (use French subtitles!). It creates valuable cultural links in the classroom to both Michel Sardou´s classic songs, and to new teen celebrity Louane Emera, a finalist to the French version of The Voice. Definitely worth a watch :)
kosmasp And they achieve to do so, even while not being political correct. And sexually open minded. Not that there is any nudity in it, but as the MPAA would state it (I reckon): adult situations, language and then some ... well maybe not the last part, but you get where I'm heading with this. But all in the name of comedy and if you're not easily offended, you will actually see a heart warming story of a dysfunctional family, that's actually more normal than others.Family issues are the toughest to handle, because you deal with them every day. And it's a surefire trap for falling into clichés. But even when that seems to be the case, the movie always has a solution that works in its favor. The comedy and the acting feel fresh and natural, rather than scripted and boring.
carlesmiquel The Béliers are a pretty different family. They're deaf and mute. They live in the countryside and they are a loving family with two children. With one caveat: their daughter is their ears and voice. As French cinema goes, this film is at its best. The performances, and the whole idea behind the film is so deep and so original, it will make you think twice about life. It's pretty difficult for me to restrain on accolades and praise. The writers, the director, the crew and each and every actor on this piece are a team out of the ordinary. I mean, a film like this is what makes film making and story telling worth it. As it happens more often than not, French cinema is on the top list of the best films in the world. Sadly for those who expect lots of action, the French rarely oblige. They go deep into the soul of their characters. This is not a cute film, this is a serious work of art that transcends beliefs, races and countries. I would put it as one of those films not to be missed. Chapeau!
ticanard If you like action movies with lots of special effects and all those things, forget this film. This is a movie that will make you feel good, laugh and at the same time shed some tears. First, the actors are all excellent and the music is beautiful (I am a huge fan of Michel Sardou). The photography is also excellent and the dialogue is very funny on many occasions. I especially likes the actress portraying the mother in the film, her facial expressions are exceptional. As for the young girl her voice is not exceptional but she gives a very beautiful rendition of the songs of Michel Sardou. The only reason I rate this film as 9 is because from the time she meets her music teacher you immediately guess the end of the movie. Finally there was not a dry eye in the theather. This is my kind of film. SPOILER COMING UP. The part where my wife and I loved the most was when the girl sings at the contest the sound is suddenly cut off and you feel what the parents feel and also when, the night before going to Paris, her father feels the girls throat to sort of find out her singing.
