Joe Day I hate films like this. Why is everyone so willing to commit adultery, sleep around on their partners, etc.? Why? The girls is just selfish that is all. She has not been with this guy in two years and then all of a sudden she throws a wrench in his relationship and plays a guilt trip on him and they get back together! I give it 6 months. I thought it was pretty convenient that his new girl was rich and so did not need his money (newfound money). All of her paranoia was legit too. So in the end, these two deserve each other. Were they not just fiction, they would definitely end up on Maury or somewhere. I suppose, though, that many women love these kind of boy men, so easily manipulated.
guisreis This is a surprisingly good romantic comedy B-movie! Without famous actors, visual effects and everything else, it is quite good. Why? Because it has a very good screenplay, what seems to become less and less usual in Hollywood. It follows the typical and predictable path: two people have a troublesome relationship in the beginning but it changes during the story until they become lovers/friends. Though, it is clever in its choices, is somewhat original in putting the main characters as ex-boyfriend and girlfriend, and has quite good dialogs, avoiding clichés and obvious details. I recommend everybody to put skepticism aside and give this film a chance. It is good.
MiamiReviewer This movie is not rocket science, but it is a significant step above most of the romantic drivel out there. I really liked the two leads; at first, I wasn't sure I liked either, but they became very likable characters and had excellent chemistry. I appreciated that both characters' unlikeable- ness at the beginning made contextual sense in the plot, and that they didn't just have a 180 degree change of personality, but developed into softer people as their situations changed. The girlfriend was a bit one-dimensional, and it always annoys me when the romantic lead's significant other -- who is clearly destined to be given the boot -- is so despicable that there's no conceivable way the lead would actually be dating this person. But she was nonetheless entertaining, so not all bad. I also thought the next door neighbor was well scripted and acted. I would easily watch this again - fun movie.
Moviegoer19 ...especially if you like "relationship movies." I really enjoyed this film. I found the writing and plot to be quite clever. The acting too was excellent. Often indie romance films don't quite make it. They're filled with stereotypes and wind up being boring and predictable. Not "Take Care." In this film, a woman is immobilized by a broken arm and leg and is determined to be independent. At the same time, she needs help just to get some of the basics of daily living taken care of. Her well meaning but insufferable sister is there but clearly doesn't want to be. Her good friend gets sidetracked by her own problems. Then Frannie, the MC, remembers that she took care of her ex for two years while he had cancer. She calls upon him to repay the favor. OK, what happens between them is somewhat predictable, but how they get there is fun to watch, and very engaging.
