Redwarmin This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
Griff Lees Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
thisanant a perfect blend of story , performance and humor , movies like this and I wonder , how can I get a movie like this among the garbage I get to see with only better marketing and more stupidity . Ellen page and DENNIS QUID are so talented , I mean he is an accomplished actor and makes it look like a documentary with authentic acting and she is maybe the best in her generation. it is funny too .
John Palmer The film was OK - not great but good enough to watch to the end (which is a rarity these days) but............... I recognised the instrumental from Led Zep's 1970's track "That's the Way" from Led Zeppelin III - it's a bit naughty really. About 30 to 35 seconds of it from around 52mins to 53mins. I was actually singing the lyrics as it was playing and congratulating the film makers on their taste - then............... no credit? How can they get away with that?
Python Hyena Smart People (2008): Dir: Noam Murro / Cast: Dennis Quaid, Thomas Hayden Church, Ellen Page, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ashton Holmes: Comic drama about choices. It stars Dennis Quaid as a professor who is widowed and has two children. When his car is impounded he is left to trust his unreliable adopted brother who just arrived in town due to financial difficulties. Director Noam Murro does a fantastic job at detailing these relationships. Quaid is seen as withdrawn and remembering none of his students. Finally he finds romance and opportunity with a nurse as well as a new beginning. Thomas Haden Church plays his adopted brother who lacks ambition yet establishes a relationship with his niece that opens a new view on life. Sarah Jessica Parker plays a nurse whom was a former student of Quaid's. She is not there as a romantic prop but rather she opens his eyes to his flaws. Ellen Page plays his daughter deep in her studies yet her annoyance at Hayden Church branches into an evening of substance abuse placing him in a position of responsibility. Ashton Holmes plays Quaid's son who ends up bonding of sorts with Church when he Church needs a place to crash. Great cast and a screenplay that is well written and realistic in a way that is more natural than predictable. The film demonstrates our imperfections with the hopes of new beginnings. Score: 10 / 10
Peace I did not have great expectations of this film and I was not disappointed. It did deliver easy watching experience and I did not expect anything more. Acting was good except SJP was a little too bitchy and dry but maybe that was in the script, I don't know all other characters where reasonably life like. The irony is that the main character Lawrence was displeased that his book was "dumbed down" for the ordinary reader but the movie itself is "dumbed down" for the ordinary watcher... The family is portrayed as being formed out of ubersmart individuals, but as only proof of their smartness is presented use of smart words. Not a single profound philosophical concept or anything of that kind. They where presented as people who have accomplishments, but only excuse given for that was arrogance. could have been made much more enjoyable if it where written smarter...
