GamerTab That was an excellent one.
MusicChat It's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.
Hayden Kane There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Fleur Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
sol- Placed in witness protection after accidentally seeing her mobster boyfriend commit a heinous murder, a small-time Reno singer has trouble adjusting to her new identity as a nun in this Whoopi Goldberg comedy. There are some groan-inducing fish-out-of-water moments early on, such as Goldberg struggling to make it through grace, however, the film improves as she begins to embrace the convent life, finding a new passion in life when placed in charge of the convent's second-rate choir. Indeed, the film's best scenes involve the nuns singing religiously themed variations on popular rock tunes, including a clever rendition of the Mary Wells song 'My Guy'. It even reaches the point where the success of the choir is so interesting that the thugs tracking down Goldberg feel like a distraction when they suddenly reappear towards the end. The film is also let down by some simple stereotype supporting characters, with only Maggie Smith really standing out. Smith is actually funny than Goldberg, given all the best lines ("People want to kill you. Everyone who has met you I imagine."), however, she is ultimately merely a supporting player. Those interested in a comedy where Goldberg steals every scene she is in may be better served by 'Ghost', but this is a decent little film with even a solid message or two about believing everyone has the capacity for change.
Parker Lewis I loved Sister Act. I know Sister Act isn't a religious faith-based movie, but for a Hollywood mainstream feature, it had a sympathetic look at mainstream religion through Whoopi Goldberg's performance as lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier. The scene at the end where Harvey "The Piano" Keitel's character orders the execution of Deloris by his henchman, there was an in-depth calm of Deloris. For this scene alone Whoopi should have been nominated for an Oscar.Maggie "Downton Abbey" Smith also appears in Sister Act.
kimNON "Sister Act"(1992) is a comedy movie and made in the USA and became a big hit. The main actor is Whoopi Goldberg. She is a club singer. One day, she witnesses an incident of murder. She finds herself in a situation where she is pursued by gangs, so she is given refuge in an religious house. In that place, she has to behave as a sister. She can not stand living strict and boring life. She is appointed the conductor of a choir which is not good at singing. Through singing, she develops friendship with other sisters and the superior. I really enjoy this movie. The performance of the choir makes me happy. They not only sing strongly but also dance. I think I want to go to a convent every time if such a choir sing. I am impressed with the friendship between Deloris and other sisters. Through singing, Deloris change her personality. I think singing has special power.
slightlymad22 Fresh off her Oscar winning turn in "GHOST" Whoopi Goldberg once again delivers the laughs in this pleasing comedy. After witnessing a Mob Hit, a Las Vegas lounge singer is hidden by the police in a church.I'm one of the few people who prefers Goldbergs shockingly under used dramatic acting skills over her comedy ones, but here she hits the right notes (literally) Harvey Keitel is his reliable self in a role most people will have forgotten he did. Kathy Najimy and Wendy Makkena shine as two of the nuns and Maggie Smith is simply a delight as the Mother Superior who frowns on Goldbergs effect on the other nuns.
