AnhartLinkin This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
SnoopyStyle Jonah is having his bachelor party with his friends. They go to a remote strip club run by Mr. Nyx. He finds a girl with strange powers and helps free her from a magic manacle. She turns out to be a powerful demon who takes a liking to her savior. The concept of a sexual demon is reminiscent of Splice. The actress' eyes are pretty big in real life. The CGI effects on her face may be unnecessary. It does make her very disturbing but it also makes it fake. The filmmaking is limited in its indie production. The acting is also limited. There is a disturbing nature that rises above its general limitations.
Syo Kennex From director Gregg Bishop comes the 2016 creature feature SiREN; the story of a bachelor party that turns into a fight for survival when the groom accidentally releases a dangerous predator. I found this by chance when I was browsing for a film to watch late one night, and decided to give it a try. I knew that likely, it would be a bad film, with nothing much to hold it, and I wasn't expecting much from it; maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much.I found this film to be quite unique, even though it was based off of V/H/S and another piece of media, Amateur Nightt. The story itself – the groom releases a siren after being totally bewitched by her, and murder, gore and a fight for survival follows. The only thing that did rather annoy me about this film was that, it took a while to start up. It was very slow to begin, and that really put me in a bit of a bad mood with it. It took me a while to get into it when it did eventually start up, but I was grateful I was rather bored with it. It made the beginning of the story line and the action much more exciting. The acting in this was really well done, and all actors and actresses deserve to be recognised for their work in this film. They obviously worked hard for it and it more than definitely paid off; the acting in this, for a creature feature, is absolutely spectacular. The special effects, as a make up artist myself, I have to mention. They were shockingly good. They were very realistic, they looked like the siren herself was something you could come across in the street when walking at night, and isn't that the goal of special effects? Unfortunately, of course, there was the insane blood splatter that just isn't realistic at all, for the gore factor shock horror, and that was a real disappointment, after the film was just so strong in everything else.In summary – the acting and special affects are A*, the story line could have done better and is about a B-, and the overall experience was amazing, ranking about an A-
phanthinga Hey what if you throw From Dust Till Dawn and Beauty and the Beast to a blender then add a little bit Twilight into the mix you will have this movie.SiREN is a feature-length adaptation of Amateur Night a horror segment from V/H/S back in 2012 directed by Gregg Bishop.First i say this movie is very different from the source material so if you already watch the original you will still find this movie fresh and new.The plot follow a group of guys on their way to celebrate a bachelor party for a friend but their fate soon end up into a wrong direction when they decided to follow a strange guy to a secret midnight club that promise to give a best night of their live. The club soon turn into a living hell hole when the main characters Jonah accidentally free a demonic creature take form of a woman so now she kinda fond of him and want to mate with him now.Beside the horrible acting and clichés characters development this movie actually has balls to did many thing that help it far more interesting and memorable than most of B horror movie nowadays when the shock value of this movie really high with one of the most amazing and craziest sex scene i ever see in a horror movie. The make-up effect of the creature is top-notch when it not only scary but also very sexy if you have fetish with monster girl :).The only problem for me is when it about to show a very gory violence scene they usually shot it in a very uncomfortable way that take me out of the movie sometime.Overall it a good watch and i highly recommend it for horror lovers
trashgang Is there one horror buff out there that hasn't seen the much acclaimed V/H/S/ franchise. Well if so you do know that there were some weird and gory tales to see. "Amatuer Nigh" was on the first part and let this full feature being an adaption of it.When I did see the siren it immediately reminded me of Splice (2009). Did I like Siren, well, somehow it did remind me of the VHS segment but it didn't feed my hunger. There isn't that much of gore in it. Let me even say that there isn't that much of horror in it or even scary moments. What it did deliver was a lot of nudity at strip bars but after a while I thought, let's bring in the horror. So many reviewers did like it somehow but for me it was rather weak. It do has a few good moments but face it, the hitting of ones knee to break it is done off-camera. And the biting of the siren in faces is also done off-camera. Siren looks to me as a flick made quickly to cash in on the VHS reputation. Gore 0/5 Nudity 1/5 Effects 2/5 Story 2/5 Comedy 0/5
