Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
FlashCallahan Sidney has surrendered to the woods, her whereabouts are unknown to everyone but Dewey, and Wes Craven. After a number of murders that seem to be related to the Woodsboro case take place on the set of Stab 3, Sid comes to Hollywood to be terrorised, find out more about her mother's death, and try to figure out how much of the barrel has been scraped making this film.....So as the videogram from Randy states that with the third part of the trilogy all bets are off and no one is safe, this is just a subliminal message to the viewer stating that there is no chore nice with this film, but you have to have a trilogy, and it's going to make a shedload any so who cares about narrative? After a quite impressive opener, it's straight to dumpsville with the narrative. Sidney gets involved for no good reason, as do the other surviving members of the cast, and in hindsight, would any of the really have gotten so involved? Just get in a car and drive far away until the killer is caught. But we can't do that, because we have to find out who is behind all this banality and what their motive is.And if it wasn't one of the poorest Scooby Doo endings I've seen, I'll re watch it with directors commentary. The cast look bored, and it all feels stale and flat, the exact opposite of the first film which reset the clock for horror films. It's a shame though because somewhere there is a good film waiting to get out, but the writing is terrible.
Realrockerhalloween Why is it that when it gets to the third installment in a series it lower fresh material and feels old?I really wanted to like scream 3. It has stellar sets, great performances and the lighting was solid. What caused this one to tank starts with the killer going after Cotten instead of her brother figure Dewey who not only would know where to find her, but could be used as ransom to draw her out of hiding. It was stupidity like this that hurt the flow of the film and had viewers disappointed in the series that was suppose to be different from Freddy or Jason. The fear of killing off old characters started to become contrived and handicapped them in finding subplots to fit them in.It even stole plot points from other franchises that we're copying off them. Sidney going into hiding was the same as Halloween H20 and doesn't even try to hide it. Even shoehorning in a half brother who is out to find her only for her to have to take him on one last time and end his reign of terror. However I liked the continuation established her by her father return and wearing the necklace her boyfriend gave her adding realism to an otherwise silly film.It did have its moments of horror that leave an impression but they are far and in between. The meta established early on worked wonderfully at first and filtered out by the end going over board making it all feel fake. While it tried to stay the same scream we all know and love it Only proves three isn't a magic number.
NileFortnerBoogieBuddha954 Jay and Silent Bob aren't the only ones who strike back. Scream 3 is suppose to be the chilling third chapter, of the phenomenon, frightful, and popular Scream movies. However, it lacks what made the first and second Scream movies amazing.I believe the 3rd entry could have used it's old screenwriter back, Kevin Williamson (I Know What You Did last Summer, The Faculty). Instead, we get a new screenwriter, Ehren Kruger (The Ring, Transformer: Age of Extinction). In my opinion, Kevin Williamson may be the better writer.I believe this Scream film didn't have the heart behind it. Easy it enjoyable? Sure. Is it a classic like the first one, or even good like the second? Not really. So these are my final Bitchin' Buddha thoughts on Scream 3. It's not as suspenseful, original, and clever as the rest. I enjoyed it, but I believe there wasn't enough creativity ad heart behind it. I believe Scream 3 earns a...6/10.This review is brought to you by Boogie Buddha, and remember, don't just get down, but get boogie. Thank you all for reading/viewing, and I hope you have an amazing day as always. :)
SageSledgeRedux In this, the final chapter in the critically acclaimed "Scream" franchise, all bets are off when a new killer begins terrorizing Sidney Prescott, and the cast and crew of "Stab 3", the third film based on the murders that rocked the small town of Woodsboro. But does this finale have plenty of what made the previous films mysterious, funny and engaging?Unfortunately, no. Despite Wes Craven's best efforts to conclude the series while it still had its dignity, this third chapter lacks the stakes and wit of the original, or the self-aware humour of the second, and decides to replace it with a stale, heartless product. The story, which I won't spoil here, has a promising first act, but it soon forgets what story it was telling and goes completely off the rails. Neve Campell, David Arquette, and Courtney Cox still do an admirable job in their respective roles, however, so that's something.Final Words:Overall, "Scream 3" constantly falls victim to the tropes the series used to so famously subvert and fails to deliver anything new to a franchise that should have been laid to rest after its stellar second installment. Only watch if you feel the need to finish the franchise, but otherwise, avoid entirely.6/10
