ThiefHott Too much of everything
SpunkySelfTwitter It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Paul Evans People often talk about how poor sequels are in comparison to the originals, but with Scream that is far from the case, the original in my eyes is a classic, it helped redefine the Slasher movie, return it to the fore front of cinema for several years. Scream 2 in some ways is better then the first, the script is a little tighter, it's not afraid to have a cheeky laugh at its own expense, the killings are perhaps bigger and bolder, and they find a way to shut Sarah Michelle Gellar up, who could ask for more. Some of the cinematography is excellent, it's a very good looking film. I think Neve Campbell's stage dance is one of the film's best moments, it works on so many levels, menace and confusion, it is very nicely done, similar to those great moments in the opening sequences at the cinema too, we as an audience are allowed to see what's going on in the midst of the noise and distraction. It loses points for making Dewey a complete and utter idiot, every time I watch this now I can only see his character from Scary movie, but there's little difference between the two. The killer(s) certainly comes as a surprise.A very good Slasher movie.
Leofwine_draca Wes Craven was quick to jump on the bandwagon he had created with his surprise hit SCREAM, delivering us a sequel barely months after the first. As expected, it's not as good as the original film, and in fact doesn't come close. This time around the emphasis is on comedy rather than horror. SCREAM 2 is witty, clever, and self-indulgent (as to be expected) and it's a bit of fun watching the original cast members go through their paces once again. But this is just not enough.Courtney Cox and Neve Campbell both seem to be competing for thinnest female performer and they look a lot like zombies here. David Arquette offers up some suspect comic value with his limp (he was stabbed in the back in the first film) but the star of the show is Jamie Kennedy, who returns as geek Randy from the first film. Kennedy is the brightest star of them all and the best scene comes where he is being terrorised by the murderer in the park. Also appearing are Sarah Michelle Gellar in a typical pretty-faced role, and Jerry O'Connell who is good value as Campbell's boyfriend. The gore this time consists of stabbing and shooting, there's a lot of blood but no real imagination to the killings (apart from the first death where a man is stabbed in the side of the head through a toilet cubicle wall). Also, again as expected, there are a lot of protracted stalk and slash sequences towards the end of the film, before the clichéd and disappointing finale which could have been a lot better - and more original - than it was. It's a fun film to watch but it's a sequel that covers no new ground and is merely a continuation of the first film. We could have done without it, because honestly speaking this came too fast after the first one and followed the same formula too closely to be as effective. And as for SCREAM 3...
adonis98-743-186503 Two years after the first series of murders, a new psychopath dons the Ghostface costume and a new string of killings begins. Scream 2 is directed by Wes Craven once more and stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Jamie Kennedy and what truly surprised me about this movie is how they basically make fun of terrible horror sequels without the film being terrible and actually it's as good as the first one if not better it also has a bigger cast this time Sarah Michelle Gellar, Liev Schreiber , Timothy Olyphant, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jerry O'Connell and although it's basically the same once more it's not a bad re-telling of the same plot there's some shocking plot twists especially with Kennedy's character and the film itself is directed by Wes Craven once more which it makes you wonder on how did it got a 56% Audience Score on RT? And just like the first film the beginning of the movie is again an awesome powerful scene.
Realrockerhalloween The long awaited follow up sequel delivers in strides by place Sidney and fellow survivor Randy in college thinking the terror was over. Now they must deal with a new set of ghostfacers determined to finish what the last started.Keeping true to its roots, the film parodies the horror sequels that flowed out during the 80s and set up a new batch of rules in this stylish genre.A few changes however is that Gale has been reduced back to her original obnoxious self who cares more for game and fortune then her ex boyfriend Dewey. Why reset the great chemistry between them? Randy's still a virgin and they make jokes around that. Retread shows a lack of creativity and running out of ideas.Anyway, the film makes an interesting link by all the victims having the initials of the victims staring in the first. A few issues rose to the surface using this format. Since this is the case why can't Dewey stop any of the murders? All they have to do is get a registry and find any students fitting the description and set a trap. Major plot hole. The scenes I felt worked the best tensions was the play where they are rehearsing Cassandra. The mood is set with the music, flashing lights and the masks all nearly identical except for our beloved killer. It even works on a personal level since Cassandra could see the tragedy that would befall and was powerless to stop it like our hero. The other was when Sidney and her roommate has to sneak out if the police car before the killer awakes. I was sweaty bullets hoping and praying they would make it.What I found disappointing is by the end it feels like it was making fun of the first film and getting caught up in the big reveal of the killer's identity that it didn't take enough time to development it. In some instances it felt to me like a big stretch or impossible.I still found it clever, witty and exciting. Just not as good as the first.
