Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
Contentar Best movie of this year hands down!
Abbigail Bush what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Freeman This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
cageydog This is on par with a bad SyFy original movie, the script should be pushing daisies, never made into a film.
lordz-35761 Everyone involved overacts, almost like it is an instruction from the director. They plot in nonsensical at times and they apparently misplace items between scene's, having assault weapons in one scene and not having them moments later, after a short (not shown) skip in time. Perhaps some scenes was cut due to budget or time, and the continuity suffered from it.The directing, chosen angles and editing is poor - perhaps some of the jarringly poor camera work and editing can be traced to 'oh, here they had to skip showing how they got somewhere since if they turn the camera 5 degrees more one can see the barricades and non-apocalyptic scenery'.I was surprised how little I enjoyed this one.
tfminfl 217. Revolt. Within the first few minutes of this one, I felt I was watching a movie that went ahead and crossbred the TV series Falling Skies with Terminator Salvation. Now it may have to do with the fact that Moon Bloodgood was in both of those, and the actress in this one, Bérénice Marlohe, could be her doppelganger in this... or it could be that the invading robots looked like Falling Skies invading robots and that the plot followed Terminator Salvation, substituting the whole Skynet Terminator time travelling robots for robots from space...or are they from space...dah dah dahhhhhh. So it starts bang right in the middle of a robotic invasion taking place in Kenya. And some dude wakes up in a cell with no memory of what is going on or who he is, freaks out, yells, someone says shut up...enter new best friend Nadia, a doctor, one thing leads to another and they go on the run for survival, heading in one general direction the center of it all, why?? Cause they need answers, also the streange tattoo that Bo has (oh yea, thats what Nadia names Lee Pace's character cause of a ripped tag on his shirt) a symbol of some sort looks like the power button symbol to be, but everyone else recognizes it as a satellite dish. Now the whole time Bo every once in awhile has some flashbacks to what happened before waking in the cell...are they of him being captured by the robots, mercy killing a wounded friend??? So whats the satellite dish transmitting, well its not that hard to figure out, especially if you see the similarities like I did. But overall, it wasn't a bad smaller budgeted sci fi flick.... Rock on!
jwcstorage I would likely have rated this higher if it wasnt for the ending. Overall it was a fun little sci-fi romp with absolutely unique looking machines invading and killing lots of squishy Earthlings, but it ends where it feels like there should be at least one more major action sequence left. The movie was fine, with (mostly) passable acting. The main characters were nothing amazing but they did their jobs well enough. The aliens came in a few different flavors but other than the standard Tall baddie dont expect anything memorable. Same goes for the scenery which consists of blown up and run down places. There are plot holes and dangling threads hanging out from the script unfortunately. We get several big revelations at the end, and where a better movie would have gone on to make these reveals mean literally anything, right when you're expecting the final showdown........credits roll. -_-Some complain about the foreign languages being spoken as inaccurate, but unless you speak them it wont matter and there isnt much in the movie either. If you want a popcorn sci-fi and dont mind a little frustration, this might be a fun watch. I wouldnt recommend it as a rental, but if its free with your subscription, and you have a couple of hours to kill, go for it!There is one unique moment that had me laughing. If you watch the movie you will undoubtedly see it too... its not a spoiler but I'll be a bit vague anyway. About half way through the movie, the protagonist and his female friend are trapped between a couple of buildings and out in the open during a firefight. When a random human dies, the plucky hero plucks the now-dead guys gun straight outta the air! It is pure schlocky glory!
