Exoticalot People are voting emotionally.
Sexyloutak Absolutely the worst movie.
Glimmerubro It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
rms125a Whiny political agitprop. Some intense scenes of a man being tortured in Egypt. Jake Gyllenhaal is good in his role but, overall, everyone else is really bad. Meryl Streep is the necessary Republican neocon baddie. Peter Sarsgaard is an earnest but conflicted congressional staffer with a personal connection to the American citizen wife (Reese Witherspoon) of an Egyptian national, who just happens to be the subject of the rendition for which the film is named. Alan Arkin is Sarsgaard's boss, a crusty oldtimer who doesn't want to get involved. Tiresome tropes used in service of political propaganda about issue that most people don't know much about and Hollywood should NOT be the first place they get educated.
danielepinat Rendition-the beginning of a new era of films which will deal with the subject of torture and America's involvement. It is peculiar that this film has succeeded in being made. I mean, the film shows how the USA is participant in the use of torture as a means to get information from, in this case, an alleged terrorist. When Corrine Whitman (Meryl Streep) says that America does not torture, she is correct. However, what she doesn't say is that they are tortured elsewhere. A way to wash one's hands on the subject of torture. She could have added. So, why talk about it when it doesn't exist here? If it is practised elsewhere, that is not my problem or the country's problem The role of Douglas Freeman (Jake Gyllenhaal) who will replace his boss and for the first time will assist to his first torture without any preparation whatsoever, seems to me a bit far-fetched.As a fact, can one be pushed unexpectedly without preparation and can be scarred for life in a violent world such as torture and go home at night and sleep well? As we can see the movie gives us an answer. The film is a success since it deals with the current subject of torture that it may strike the audience off guard those who do not expect this theme to be treated in a way that makes America a liar: ''America does not torture.''I rate this film 8/10.
moshirhemdan The film storyline is good but as an Egyptian I was disappointed by the film makers!! the Egyptian accent is such a miss!! it was weird mix of Arabic formal language,Syrian and Egyptian slang!! why didn't they pay much attention to those details?! not all Arab countries speak same slang and uses the same accent. some other turn offs are the Arabic stereo typing: why can't they make a movie about Arabic country without a belly dancing scene.. just wondering ?! On one scene El-Ibrahimi's wife asks his mother : "Does he even attend a mosque?" really?? so it is a bad thing for a Muslim man to practice his religion by paying at the mosque?!
speedy-droid One of the better movies that I have seen concerning terrorism. This is a very well-done movie about fear and prejudice. I like that the movie never addresses exactly how the telephone calls occurred.I also wonder how many people really understand the ending, where the CIA guy (Gyllenhaal) sneaks the guy out of prison onto a small cargo ship. I really wonder how many people understand the implications of that. You CANNOT let someone who is innocent go free. If you torture the guy and he turns out to be innocent, you MUST KILL HIM! Because... What would happen if people found out that you tortured an innocent guy? If you torture a guy, and he turns out to be innocent... You MUST KILL HIM!That is a bone-chilling reality that is brought to light in this film.
