AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
vincentlynch-moonoi I'll go against the grain here. I think this is a fairly good horror/suspense film. Certainly better than many of the slasher type horror films that seem to come out every few months. There is a problem -- Nicholas Cage. Not that there was anything wrong with his acting (not that it's his best outing, either). But, he's (gasp) too old for the part. In his mid-50s with a kid who's about 7. And he looks so much older and flabby in the face, too. I know what you may be thinking -- why am I being so mean. I'm not. He's just too old for the part and it shows. But beyond that, the movie held my attention. And, I disagree with a number of other posters in that this is not "the" standard plot. Sure, there are things you kinda guess and expect along the way, but it's been a long time since I saw a unique horror film. And there are things -- particularly the ending -- that are quite different from much that I've seen before.Yes, I know it was direct to DVD, which is not a good sign. But give it a chance.
nzswanny I'm completely aware of all the hate Nicholas Cage gets (which I disagree with), however I actually consider him a good actor that commonly falls into the wrong hands. In this little horror film, Nicholas Cage actually gives an acceptable performance as the main role with good, sentimental angry outbursts of rage. It's nothing special, but I enjoyed this film because of it's imaginative, dark cinematography and quietly creepy atmosphere. It's got good jumpscares, surprisingly eye-capturing visual effects and an alright storyline to keep it going, and as long as you expect little from this film you may find yourself pleasantly surprised. I have to remark, this is actually one of Nicholas Cage's better films after all the crap he's acted in previously, and it's good that he's still acting in some films worthy of your time.
jenwense Let me start my first review by saying I am a Nick Cage fan. I do not understand why there is so much hate for Cage. Maybe it's because he does too many films. With Cage, you either love him or you hate him. Classic Cage films include Con Air, Face Off, The Rock, Honeymoon in Vegas, Leaving Las Vegas and Moonstruck. And to all those saying he looks old. Age happens. He is 52.If you're looking for a good flick to watch on Halloween then this is it. I won't go too much into detail because it will give away too many spoilers.I really enjoyed this movie. Spooky, a big bad, a couple of jump scenes and a decent story line. I give this movie a 7/10. Some of it could have been better, but overall, I really enjoyed it.
statia13 I love a good ghost story as much as the next person. This movie has the potential, but ultimately was another let down. I did manage to stay awake throughout the film, but there was nothing new. Same old, same old. Another great actor sold out to a mediocre scrip, if you ask my opinion. If you're starving for a new movie about ghosts, I suppose I'd recommend this one, but don't expect much. I'd rate it a "B" movie at best. I really felt let down by Cage. I really can't say much more about the movie without spoiling the story line, since it's so transparent. Cage pulled through on his acting, however, I feel he sold out for a weak script.
