KnotMissPriceless Why so much hype?
Mjeteconer Just perfect...
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
maymaymonarch This film is by no means great and it has plenty of flaws (dialogue being the major one) but it accomplishes what it was made to do which is to give you a decent thrill. If you're looking for something original, smart, and top of the line, you won't find it here. I went into this movie with very little expectations and I was pleasantly surprised. Sam Jackson was by far the highlight of the film and he delivers a very strong performance. You really feel intimidated by him and while character's make choices that seem strange and at times stupid, it's not hard to see why with a character like Sam's in the back. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone that thinks that they should get something big out of this because big expectations are what kill a film like this. I personally thought they did a good job capturing tension and I wouldn't mind watching it again if I couldn't find anything else.
Floated2 Meeting Evil is a past time crime thriller starring Luke Wilson and Samuel L. Jackson. Throughout the film, Jackson (Ritchie) has fun chewing the scenery as a deranged killer in this otherwise formulaic thriller that provides some campy amusement before running out of gas. John (Luke Wilson) is an unlucky suburban realtor whose life spins out of control after an innocent encounter with a mysterious stranger (Jackson) who wears a fedora. John soon finds himself held hostage during a terroristic spree that later threatens his wife (Leslie Bibb) and children. The film is a decent watch, it won't be too high but it is well entertaining at some areas and the characters provide some great profanity. Though, the film can be somewhat uncertain at points and have several filler moments. The highlight is Samuel L. Jackson's character as he steals the film right from his opening scene. Although somewhat predictable, Meeting Evil is mainly just a onetime watch.
garman-productions This movie starts out somewhat interesting with SLJ playing his standard menacing character by rote. But the character played by Luke Wilson makes one mystifying decision after the next, defying logic and common sense. I can never understand why lousy writing such as seen in this movie gets a regular pass by the producers of so many movies. Maybe they don't even actually read the scripts and just are interested in "demographics".And the two detectives are more than bumbling; they are boring too. In an unintentional comedic bit of casting/writing; the two actors playing Luke Wilson' children, a boy and girl, look nothing like the parents and play deadpan throughout their on screen time. Even if they are supposed to be adopted, one would expect some emotion from them but it rarely shows. The alleged "twist" at the end is thrown in there along with the rest of the ridiculous inexplicable plot devices. Thus, a noisy nonsensical waste of time all around.
Film Watchin Fool My Score: 5.5Meeting Evil is somewhat intriguing at first glance because we see big names such as Samuel L. Jackson and Luke Wilson as the headliners. John Felton (Wilson) is a down on his luck realtor, who is in debt and dealing with losing the dream life he has built for his family. A seemingly random knock on his door by mad men Richie (Samuel L. Jackson) to help with his broke down car sends Wilson on a terrifying string of events. The movie has potential, but never really comes to fruition and is quite unrealistic at points. Samuel L. Jackson does a fine job, Luke Wilson is solid, and the remainder of the cast does a nice job as well. The glaring issue with the movie is how the story plays out and the fact that it leaves the audience with plenty of unresolved questions. It isn't awful and marginally entertaining, but there are better movies that fit this mold that I would recommend instead: Phone Booth (2002), Collateral (2004), Dead Calm (1989) to name a few.
