A brilliant film that helped define a genre

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

I would have given this movie a 1 except for Diane Lane. She tried...the movie is just dumb. The character of Nix is obnoxious...Rourke should have shot him the day he met him.

Carmen Colson and her husband Wayne are placed in the Federal Witness Protection program after witnessing an extortion scheme go wrong. Thinking they are safe at last, they are targeted by an experienced intimidating hit man and a psychopathic young upstart killer. The ensuing struggle will test Carmen to the limit.....Always curious about this movie because of all the push backs, Killshot has to be one of the most irritating, pretentious movies I've seen in a long while.Rourke spends the movie pouting and giving rationale or his doing, Levitt is just too over the top in a way even David Lynch would cringe at, and Rosario Dawson is totally wasted.Lane and Jane are okay, but they are he most boring couple I've ever seen on celluloid. The film meanders from scene to scene to scene, and one cannot believe that a prolific director like Madden could make something so redundant. It tries to be offbeat, tries to be something a little out there, even mystical, but the film is a complete shambles from beginning to end.Highly avoidable.

If I live to be a thousand I will never understand how some viewers arrive at their opinion. I truly think some people look to see what others have said about a film and if the majority are negative then they jump in with THEIR negative review. I fail to see how people see pictures like this and automatically decide it'a "a piece of crap" It is not! KILLSHOT is a very descent film. Good acting and strong performances by Micky Rourk and Diane Lane. Good suspense. Good story that I find very plausible. Elmore Leonard wrote the novel from wince the film comes. A descent picture with a fine performance by Micky Rourk, who is a dam fine actor! To all those naysayers who wrote disparaging reviews... What are you looking for? Perfection in everything that ever gets made? All of you must be very sad to discover there is very little perfection in anything.

I absolutely love this move. Watch it every time I get the chance. Mickey Rourke plays his role to a tee and we see from this movie that he is back in full effect! Joseph Gordon Lovett is equally excellent as the charismatic psychopath whom Bird takes under his wing because he reminds him of his dead brother. This movie can be really touching at times as we watch Bird go through his mixed feelings about what he should do as an aging hit-man who wants to be done with his murderous ways while still pulling off one of the meanest SOB's you would even NOT want to meet. Mickey Rourke was the best actor by far as his role was so complex at times. Dianne Lane also does a wonderful job and there are other notable appearances.Don't expect something new as its the familiar premise of a hit-man on his one last job, but this one is very stylish, has great performances and is all and all a great flick.9 out of 10 stars!
